Hi,

New member here. 2002 Dodge Ram , 178k.

Have noticed a small puddle of fuel under my truck the last few days after driving it. Looked under the truck and oil pan is soaked...seems to be dripping off of the bell housing.

Are there any tips or tricks to help pinpoint the location of the leak? Or best places to start?

I just purchased the service manual too, just haven’t got it yet.

Thanks in advance!

I would check your drain valve on the fuel filter canister and the fuel return line junction at the rear of the block.

If it is leaking from the back of the head or at the return junction
It is much of the time accompanied with a hard start if the truck is parked facing up hill.

Ok,

So I know this thread is older but I have an update for everyone. Noticed a small fuel leak after I bought my truck in December.

-Since then I've replaced the lift pump with a raptor set up.

-Rebuilt the fuel filter drain valve

-Replaced the banjo bolts and gaskets on the return line from the block and vp44

-Replaced the grommets in the fuel tee (return lines to the tank)

The leak is still happening. It looks like it could be coming from the #6 high pressure fuel line. Question - Do I need to replace the line? Or is there an o-ring I should replace? I have good oil sample results so don't believe it's an injector issue.

There is no o ring on the lines,I would loosen it then retorque.A line wrench crows foot is what works best for me

wanted to give an update on what I found.

Bought a Schley socket for the injection line fittings. Was able to reach the #5 and #6 cylinders to loosen and re-tighten to 28 ft/lbs + a few degrees.

Test drove and no more puddles under the truck!!! Thanks for all the help.

Now I just need to clean up the remaining leaked fuel...
