Uconnect Navigation map upgrade.

Only way to do upgrades on these?

What's in my truck is so poor, we are thinking about it just in the hopes its both a map and software upgrade. At the present the factory stuff doesn't hold a candle to either my Garmin or WAZE

It has actually worked pretty good for me. A few times it has not routed what I thought was the best way. We usually have google maps up as a double check.

GPS in these trucks are a joke..its taken me off the main road and routed me thru neighborhoods and secondary roads numerous times..just use my smart phone now for nav.

I agree, truck GPS not very good. You would think they would have a program in it that would allow you to input your trailer parameters while towing but nope. Years back I purchased a GPS by Rand McNally #7725 with a Good Sam RV program in it with lifetime updates. It does a good job of routing you according to the limits you input for height, weight, width and so on. It isn't 100% either. Rarely use the one in the truck unless running solo, still I watch it carefully.

Thanks KRSmitty and TDR - you just saved me some money. I have saved WAY more than the cost of TDR membership. While I could read for free - the membership is worth it!

My issues with the 8.4AN have always been about the map. I don't see much difference in the features from my other OEM Nav units or standalone Garmins. I just wish it didn't take 2 years to get out the updates from the time the map data is sampled.

I just checked again, thinking that maybe the special price went off last night. Mine (2013 2500 8.4AN) is still $99.

Get the same thing for the wife's Edge. Can get an upgrade via SD card for $149.00. Can buy the "clone" SD card for around $50-60 on ebay. Why I was wondering if you could do the same for the Ram's

I do not know how they could get around the Uconnect security features/codes.

So when you order the map update, do they send you an SD card? How is the update transferred to your truck?

USB drive. You plug it into the USB port in the center console on those that have the console. I do not know where the port is on other models. Flip up console?
