I hoping someone else is familiar with whats going on as i can't be the only one.... I ordered a 3500 mega cab limited SRW on April 30th. As i understand it these vehicles are built in Saltillo Mexico? Can someone tell me why an American vehicle is produced in Mexico? In any event my vehicle was finished and released by the factory on June 16th. It has been in KZL status for almost three weeks and has yet to get on a rail car. I have called the RAM customer service number everyday and finally after much frustration someone actually escalated the situation to another department which supposedly contacted the factory for a shipping update. I have yet to hear back. My dealership made some inquiries and was told that there is an embargo on shipments out of Mexico and vehicles have been slow to move! I couldn't believe it, an embargo you have to be kidding me! I plan on calling Chryslers corporate headquarters and will ask to speak with an executive who is responsible for logistic's. I'm sure that the stockholders wouldn't be to happy if they knew whats going on.... an 81k vehicle is being held up south of the border. If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it. Thanks Joe from Long Island NY

My 2004.5 was ordered in early Jan 04, built and ready to go (in Mexico) in mid Feb and sat on a railcar for nearly two months before being delivered in the LA area north of the border. Have a sip of wine every night and chill. No amount of my calling made it get to me any faster and I NEEDED the truck. Why Mexico? Cheap labor.

jasanto.....there is a HUGE amount of competition for rail car space and a huge amount of competition for open slots on car & truck carriers. Fact is.......demand exceeds supply, and the customer waits longer.

I’m currently in Sallisaw, OK delivering a new GatorMade gooseneck trailer to a business on Wednesday in Oklahoma City, OK. It is unreal at the hotshotters I’ve witnessed on I40 running wedge trailers with new RAM trucks.

When traveling from soCal to Indiana in 16 I kept a tally of RAM, GM and Ford trucks that were hauling RV's and equipment. It was amazing that there were virtually no newer Fords but around Elkhart there were many 7.3 Fords hauling local. There were a few GM's but overwhelmingly it was rAM that has dominated the owner operated hauling business.

That right there should be enough evidence for people to decide what truck to buy.

I guess I'll soon find out. Mine ships today from Saltillo. Dealer says they've been getting the trucks in about two weeks once they ship, even last weeks shipment.

Mine shipped yesterday.... they said i should have it by July 25th. Keeping my fingers crossed

I ordered a Ram 3500 srw with an Aisin trans on 3/26/18. It wasn’t built until June 5th. Was on a train June 7th and hit Roper, Utah on June 21st.

My truck finally hit the dealers lot yesterday and I’ll pick it up tomorrow. I only waited 15 weeks from start to finish.

I’m not sure about today’s Ram trucks but during my last couple of new truck purchases I intentionally purchased trucks manufactured in Saltillo. Why? Because the quality was far superior in the Mexican made truck. The union made trucks in St Louis had horrible orange peel in the door jambs, body panels that didn’t line up, leaking hoses etc. The trucks made in Saltillo were top quality and had minimal flaws.

My 2003 was made in Mexico. My 1996 was made in USA. Paint on the 1996 SUCKS but is excellent on the 2003. Both are white. My new 4500 that is on order is coming from Mexico and is the "Maximum Steel Metallic". Truck is supposed to be ready to pick up at the dealer late August.
