Dash "Lamp Out" warning, but all lamps work? What's up, doc?

That's about it. They all look 'fully' illuminated & operational; leaving in 2 weeks for trip & would like to resolve matter, especially if it represents something serious. Thanks.

OOps forgot to mention, there are 2 indicator lamps out; fuel gauge & HVAC knob.

I don't think so, Dashboard Lights are not controlled.
But at the Gen.3 Trucks it is well known that the circuit board insiders the rear lamp assembly makes trouble of all kinds.
I would change them, Genos sells them for a fair price.

Chnage the bulbs anyway, they will light and still throw that MIL. Headlights are the worst for that. Just have to start changing bulbs and\or rear light boards until you find the problem.

I did replace the Rear Tail Lamp Circuit Board 2 days ago, with new from NAPA...no joy. Seems more wiggling of a connector wire has some effect, sooo ordered a "Pigtail Connector Assy." to splice/solder in.

P.S. I use silicone contact grease wherever I interact with connectors/bulbs. Thanks for comments.

Front turn signal sockets can cause intermittent lamp out as well.

I had to replace both taillight boards even though all rear bulbs lit. that cured the lamp out light & buzzer

I had this issue on my 2013. I found that if I cleaned the socket and flipped the bulb the problem would of lamp out would clear.

I dealt with this for weeks .Turned out to be the center bulb on the center light at the top rear of the cab. Wasted all kinds of money replacing perfectly good bulbs . Of course it turned out to be the one I didn't check, never thought to check. -_- .

on my '03, I found the tail lamp bulbs contacts complete their circuit by contacting wires imbedded in the plastic base plate. truly a cheap design probably done by the people who design the "prizes" in a cracker jack box. the brake bulb-double filament-causes the base of the bulb to heat up over time and causes the connecting wire the bulb contacts to extrude into the plastic and cause and open circuit and illuminates the "lamp out light" on the dash. the bulb is good. the wiring is good. but the bulb won't illuminate. replace the connector base or bodge a repair on it is the only solution. worked for me...

My 03 did the same thing and I used aftermarket tail light "boards" to fix.

Yup. I get a ding occasionally. I suspect the boards in the tail lamps.

Gee whiz did you check your license plate lights? One of mine was out and the caused my code.

Every time I use either turn signal or emergency flashers, I get a ding and brief "lamp out" light. Everything is working. This started about 2 weeks ago. It has new tail light boards from Geno's. If I touch my brakes, the dinging stops, then starts again when I let off the brakes. I could understand one bulb starting to go back, but not both turn signal bulbs.

Does anyone have a preference for brand of bulb that works better? I believe I have Wagners. I use silicone dielectric grease on the contacts - is that a good idea, or can it cause problems? Is there something better? Thanks.

Something wrong in the sockets themselves causing an intermittent connection. IMO the "Sense" voltage/current that doesn't light a bulb is setting off the "Lamp out" warning, but, higher voltage to light the bulb from say turn signal on can arc over and light the bulb.

Again front turn signal sockets have problems as well. You will need to carefully inspect the contacts on the bulbs for a burn mark from the arcing. Then replace that socket. At any time have you noticed any bulb that has failed in the past? If so start with that socket because your odds are better that it was a bad socket and good bulb. Otherwise give it time as it gets worse till a bulb will stay out long enough to notice.
