Is there a semi easy way to keep the fog lights on with the high beams or do we need to order the fogzilla black box from Geno's? Seems all the truly clever folks on here would have figured out a jumper or something that allows they to stay on with the high beams.

Thanks,

Find someone with a tripledog bullydog, it will turn them on for you, did mine myself

I’ve done it on the last three trucks, 07.5,14&18. I just use a relay, tap into one of the high beam light wires to feed the relay switch, get fused power from the battery to feed the relay and connect the output feed from the relay to the fog light wires behind the bumper. On the newer trucks you have to feed both fog lights as the are on separate circuits.
And NO, this does not create any issues at all with the OEM systems, I’ve got over 300K doing this with no issues at all.

Ahhh perfect! of course, that makes sense now that you say it.

thanks!!

Connect as follows:
86- to one of the high beam feeds behind the headlight
87-to each + fog light feed behind bumper
30-to battery, fused at 15amps
85-ground
Geno’s has good waterproof relays that I use on my trucks.

Or you can mod your multi function switch like I and others have done here--

By doing it this way, you can run your fogs as well as bright and low beams ALL at the same time.
NO down side with amp draw or socket temperature or shortened bulb...well at least I have been running mine this way for over ten years and they still work great and I have had to replace a burnt out bulb only twice during that time span, which seems fairly normal to me!!!

You can apply the same method that I described as well to the low beam wires with a second relay. $30-50 parts total. I don’t know what the Bully dog is worth(can you still buy them?) I did this on the 07.5 and the 14 so that the lows stayed on. On the 18 the lows already stay on with the highs! OEM is slowly getting there!!! Maybe in a few more years they will have this set up off the lot. I’m mean geesh, why not??? If your using high beams what’s wrong with all the lights on? Although with my hid bulbs in all six spots, when you go to just lows, the change is quite a bit of a darkening jump which leaves you feeling kind of blinded in darkness for a few seconds while you have an oncoming vehicle.

Ive never understood why either, I mean if you go to high beams you want LIGHT! why turn off 2/3 of the light sources? Ii have upgraded the headlight bulbs but not to HID yet. I have a lightbar to add too but I need to build the mount for it as I want it bumper height vice above the windshield.

I can imagine that there is a bit of blindness when you go from all six to just the two low beams. I remember when I had a pair of 6x9 aux lights on my 01, going back to just the low beams for oncoming traffic was light turning off all the lights...

thanks!

EXACTLY this which is why I suggested the above mod to the multifunction switch that lets you run lo beams, high beams and fog lights at the same time and posted links to it on my last post. Simply push the switch forward for ULTR light and pull it back fro oncoming traffic.

I DO still need to retrofit HID projectors not my 2005, but the switch mod helped so much, that it is no longer a priority.

On my 2014 I had a 20” led light bar in the bumper and also had it tied in with a relay to the high beams as well, but I had a toggle switch on that one so that I could control when it was able to come on automatically with the high beams. I only turned on that toggle switch if I was really out in the boonies or off-road this way if I was caught off guard with someone coming I just had to dim the lights and they’d go off as well rather than fumbling around to shut them down.
If you do do multiply relays like this, I’d suggest getting the high beam feed from the other headlight just so that you don’t draw too much “extra” current off the OEM high beam circuit on one side.

I found on my 2014 with the HID’s I never really used the 20” led light bar because all it really added was lighting up the tree tops along the roads because the headlights and fog lights were sooo good!! It did help spotting owls though.
I’m not bothering with light bars anymore.
