So that brings me to a question I have never remembered to ask before.....what voltages are used in military aircraft???
The most common, 24vdc,24vac,120vac,230vac either single (2 hots, or 3 phase), the AC voltages are 400 hz which allows motors etc. to be incredibly small and still do the work which also saves on weight. The B-52 has 4 3 phase AC generators and 2 Cartridge start engines (think a slow burn gun powder to start #4 and #6) without ground assistance (usually used on alert duty). The KC-135 has 3 3 phase generators engines 1 thru 3 and #4 engine has the cartridge start. The Cartridge start is 24vdc which was a regular test we had to do with 3 DC load lights tied together in parallel to make sure there was enough voltage to light off the powder.
