A truetrac is supposed to be a little tighter than the oe limited slip. I personally would be tempted to look at lockers, but a limited slip is probably the smarter move.

If the OEM limited slip in my truck was a Tracrite I can assure you there is no comparison to a Eaton Detroit Truetrac. I'm running Truetracs front and rear and it has been the best modification to my truck by far. As soon as you loose the slightest traction it locks. When it is not locked drivability is normal. I looked at all options including Eaton Detroit Lockers as well as electric and air lockers and while all are good units I did not want to worry about drivability with the Eaton Detroit Locker (I'm 85% street/highway) or worry about the possible failure of an electrical or air locker with their added components. I got my truck horribly stuck with the OEM limited slip unit and I honestly wondered if I even had limited slip (it shows on the sticker) as I saw no evidence whatsoever it was actually working. Totally worthless as far as I'm concerned based on my personal experience. I personally would not waste my money on an OEM unit. I will also advise you that if you have a 4x4 get Truetracs front and rear. You will be amazed at what your truck will do offroad.
