Ok Ron, spill the beans on the lab. Age, breed? I'm a habitual lab lover/afficiando. Been around em my whole life...so I may be just a tad bias as to what is the BEST BREED EVER!

Recent picture of our newest member of the family, Bo eying up a mallard in the pond. We just celebrated his 2nd birthday.

Does Sheba shed bad ?. Roxy is a literal hair machine. I could swear I vacuum up 10 Shepherds when I vacuum. She is our 5th Shepherd and I do not know that the other 4 shed this bad.

Dave, yes. she sheds a lot we if we dont brush her a couple times a week. She doesn't care for getting brushed either. Bella used to love getting brushed. And we have beige carpet.

Dave and JR: Beautiful dogs by the way.

I have a double coat German Shepherd. He reminds you of Pigpen from the old Peanuts cartoons. As he runs by, you can just see the fur falling off of him. He's beautiful when he is clean and brushed. But it is extremely hard to maintain his coat.

All the best and hope you have a very speedy recovery! My best buddy is a mini Aussie nowadays. Have had Shepherds, huskies, terriers( cairyn and wheaton) and a couple of mutts. My "little" guy is a tad overweight at 31 lbs. But he's happy. He will be 8 this july.

It took 4 years to get to the point of getting another dog after losing our last lab of 15 years. He was around before both kids and saw them grow into their teen years. I was out of town when he stroked out, the wife drove him up to the vet and had him put down. They did it in the parking lot in the back of the car so he could be with the wife and kids til the end.

Last picture i have, 2 weeks before he went to meet his maker. He always loved being in the back of that truck and on the road. It was his happy place. That same blue collar hangs off my rear view to this day.

JR, sorry for your loss. I know the feeling well after losing 4 Shepherds. I am literally a basket case after the passing's. I was sure I would not have another as it just tears me up to bad. As the story goes the Daughter wanted a dog of her own and the search started. Had a real tough time trying to find one at a reasonable price and quality in the Phoenix area which was weird because the other 4 all came from around here. Found a couple in Vegas with some pups so the long trek began. Returned home with Roxy. The Daughter started raising the young one and I paid a little attention to her but did not want to get to close for fear of what happened before. The Daughter decides she is marrying a guy she went to school with and is stationed at Minot AFB. And now the curtain falls as I am asked if I would watch over Roxy for a while because they cannot have dogs where they will be living. That was 4 years ago and what I feared has come true and we are pretty attached now.

I would urge you to enjoy the love and companionship, do not worry about the inevitable cycle of life as much. I believe, just as a second pet can keep the other pet young, the same holds true for us. While every passing is hard, I focus on the good memories. I also have found that bringing in a second companion has helped.
