In reality it was two failures, caused by the linkage being misadjusted. The third tcase was due to a silly dealer installing a shop floor "cob-job" in the guys truck under the guise of "helping him out".

I'm going to have to read it again, but I'm pretty sure the shop rebuilt case is the only one that didn't fail. Another dealership replaced that one with a brand new unit, which then failed after the linkage was fixed... the linkage wasn't the issue.

There were indeed 3 brand new X-case failures.

Update: FCA bought my truck back via the dealer. Thought I'm still dorking around with the dealer and FCA on the paperwork. The dealer short circuited the buy back process. I didnt know this at the time, but FCA hires a third party to negotiate the terms. I just gave the dealer the title, registration, keys and wrote a check for the balance of the new truck. Out the door I went.

I don't know the outcome of my "old" truck. The general manager told me FCA directed them to repair it if possible and send it to auction afterward. My hunch now is there's a software issue. I can only guess FCA didnt feel the need to investigate. Sigh...

Buybacks are a long ugly process, I'm unaware of the 3rd Party negotiations.

If the Dealer was NOT cooperative with both Parties FCA/Owner something tells Me that 3rd/4th party is the Dealers doing.

They have used a third party to handle for quite a few years now. They have always been very good to deal with. Most of the time the dealer does not want to cooperate because they don't want to do the deal for no "profit".

Mine a couple of years ago was a piece of cake......took less than 60 days from start to finish. Arbitration company was ncdsusa.org, FCA was bound by their decision while I was not. Vehicle replacement was handled by another company, Stericycle or something like that.....Dropped the lemon off at the local dealer that sold it, swapped the keys for the new one.

Boy things have changed, Back when I was Partial owner of X Dodge we just bought the vehicle back and worked it out with FCA/Chrysler....it took some time but I can't remember FCA/Chrysler not being cooperative....I guess you call that a Dealer Buyback. We never used any additional parties. Now that I'm vested in the corporation That oversee's many Dealerships. I will ask around.....

Yes...things have changed.....o_O While the arbitration went fairly quick and easy, it was quite an eye opener to see how FCA conducts that side of their business. Snotty, unprofessional, representatives who pretty much lied most of the time, to me, and lied to the arbitrator about how the truck was fixed, despite the stack of repair invoices that said otherwise, which were in the hands of the arbitrator during the hearing. FCA told some real whoppers and the arbitrator actually laughed a couple of times at FCA's story telling.

I realized that FCA is a LLC a long time ago. Since they’re limited liability, perhaps that’s why they’re able to get away with these practices. I almost didn’t buy my ‘14 for this reason alone. We’re throwing $50-75,000 or more at a LLC?
Does this make sense to anyone?

That’s true, but tow/ haul may have a different program profile. Different lockup/ shift pattern. May shock the driveline differently.
That's most certainly true. The bottom line is something caused the txfr case to break. My sense is the transmission might be the problem. Probably never know.

So, i noticed my 4x4 manual shifter knob in the cab was moving with no resistance and not shifting from 2wd to 4wd etc. Seems the shift linkage came loose on the transfer case side. Do i need to buy the whole linkage? Or can i just buy the connector on the tfer case side? Anyone know the part number? 2013 2500 VIN ends in DG604866
