Do you have manual 1st gear and Drive? If so the OD direct clutches are gone and will require the OD unit rebuild. If you want to keep it a long time then updates are needed, find yourself a local builder for a place to go when something goes wrong.

All forward gears work fine. Just forward in all selections. Reverse neutral drive etc. even park wants to torque the body a little bit. Thank u for ur responses. Peace & Love, James

Wait a minute!!! You have forward movement when the selector is reverse????
Correct. All forward and works fine. Overdrive and all. Shifts out great. Just all selections are forward and park even torques the truck a little bit. Thank you for all y’alls help. Peace & Love, James

If you have forward movement when the selector is in R and it feels like it wants to pull in Park, the direct clutch pack has welded itself. Complete rebuild time.

What I was afraid of. So as to the second part of my original questions. Have it rebuilt or Goto an aftermarket rebuilt one such as ATS or???

Thanks in advance again y’all. Peace & Love, James

Where are you located? Any shops close to you that can work on the 48RE transmission? Do some research locally and see what is availble, a local person to address future issues or question is worth a lot.
