Here I am

Fan clutch connector location on my 06 2500. Also sensor location for the fan clutch

jerking at low speed

Trying to solve P0483 fan speed. Where is the connector and sensor located. I would like to clean the connectors. All was well until driving in some wet weather. Can this minor code set the check engine light?

Yes it can, connector is at the lower left corner of the radiator shroud.

But probably your Fan clutch is toast and not serviceable.

There is NO sensor that can be exchanged.

All the sensors and controls are in the clutch itself, all PWM signal and feed back for speed. That code means he circuit is bad somewhere, cloud be in the clutch, could be the harness, or in my case the pin in the B connector on the ECM corroded off.

As Cerb said it could be anywhere in the circuit. The red wire on my truck had corroded inside the insulation. Repaired the wire four years ago and all is well up to today. A new fan clutch would not have solved the wire problem.

Thanks for the inputs. I found the connector, I wanted to open it and use some contact cleaner. Is there a special tool to release the connector to open it?

I also have a transmission P1740 along with the fan speed code. Trying to determine if one or both are causing the check engine light.

Just a simple connector, maybe a red latch that has to be pushed out for release.

Or the connector is full with dirt so you can't push.

Anyways no tools ar needed.

Thanks for the input. In the next few days I will do some testing on the fan issue. Plan to compare if the air flow is increasing when the Temp. reaches the point to activate the clutch, 190 degrees or higher. Will provide an update after testing.

A failed fan clutch can pull the signal down and cause all kinds of issues on the bus.
I suggest you just bite the bullet and replace the fan-clutch with an OEM part. Aftermarket clutchs are troublesome.
After that your other electronic issues will likely cease.

Sorry but there is NO specific temperature that activates the fan.
This fan is entirely controlled by the ECM, it can do any speed at any engine rpm, it isn't a simple On/Off System.
For example- the ECM says run with 1500rpm and the fan speeds up to exact this and sends a message back to the ECM - command and return you know?

To diagnose this fan you need a WiTech or similar tool.

Google for Vistronic Fan for more info about that.

Somewhere between 210 and 215 ECT the fan will go to 90% duty cycle, below that it is variable depending on variables like speed, ambient, and accessories used.

Today I tried another code reader. All codes cleared with a different reader and stayed clear. I was using my Edge display to read and try to clear the codes. It would read and clear them. Starting the engine the codes would be back along with the check engine light. I now have ran and started the truck many times, no codes or check engine light after using a different reader.

Weird stuff happening.

So perhaps your wires are not in sound condition, now you wiggled and teared around them and the connection seems back - for some time, better check them thoroughly.
