Finally made it around to Cummins

Not the bed step I have....

It mounts under the bumper. That’s about as far from the front of the bed as you can get, and still be under the bed.

UH, not talking about that one. They make one for getting into the front of the bed but there is no way to reach the 5er handle or to really get into a tool box with lid instead of a sliding top.

Hey guys I forgot to mention where can I get a extra 50 gallon or so fuel tank the ram will only go about 250 miles on a full tank from what folks have told me.
Is there a place near me in VA or NC where I can get a extra fuel tank put in I met a guy yesterday with a 3500 dually and he said with the extra 50 gallons he can go 800 miles.

Thanks guys

Stuart

They want some serious dollars for that tank IIRC.

Does it mess with your range, fuel mileage calculations or anything else? I’m curious if basically the truck sees the extra fuel and is ok with it.

I have a 60 gallon Titan in my truck which gives me 600+ mile range which really helps when fuel stations are scarce. No issues hooking up a second tank or transfer pumps.

It messes with the range calculation, and it takes a while for the gauge to drop off of full, so the top is bigger than the bottom, but the gauge seems pretty accurate near the bottom, where it counts. I purposely ran it low when pulling my toy hauler the other day, and I pulled 40 miles with the low fuel light on, and idled the truck while unhitching, etc., and it took 48 gallons to fill. Once I run a few tanks through it I should be able to judge my fuel pretty well.

AMP Research also makes one for ~$250 and it's a great feature to have. I had one on my 05, and bought the different bracked to move it to my '19.

The AMP bedstep also has a bigger tread area than the OEM one, and is easier to open from the one '19 OEM one I've seen.
X2:
I have one also on my 2008 truck plus the Bed Step II at the front of the bed. On the Dodge Mega Cab the Bed Step II works perfectly for my to access the TrailAiir King pin box, when I need to add air to the bubble. I use this step to access the portable air tank and when ever I need to get into the bed when the trailer is attached.

My last three trucks I installed Northern Tool RDS aux fuel tank/tool box combo in/on the bed. 60 Gallons of fuel, toolbox sits below bed rails, simple installation with gravity feed. Two previous trucks I installed transfer pumps, but this last one I use gravity feed and 1/2" fuel line and plumbing.

Just another option.

On dually pickups, I like wheel to wheel running boards as opposed to steps. They're sturdy and have more area to stand.

Again, just another option.

I’ve read that the fuel volume can be adjusted by Alfa OBD, or the dealer. I wonder if there is any truth to that.
Titan told me there's no fix. Of course they would like you to buy their OBD/Bluetooth doohickey and download their app. It will give you accurate range, BUT it is totally manual, as you have to tell the app when you add fuel, so it's not like it is recalculating live data. The dealer said no, for whatever that's worth. I think it will become second nature in short order, like driving an old pickup with a broken fuel gauge:p

I have Aplha OBD and can check. Works on all FCA vehicles. Used on my Jeep to program DRL.

I'll post back what I find.

EDIT: Looks like it does, just not with my vehicles to see what choices are.

Because my TWO tanks can function as a single, my OEM tank just shows 52 gallons (full) with range adjusted by computer based upon varying MPG. I don't usually use it that way. I have approximately 1,000 miles range with 112 gallons, so BLADDER, wife and dogs (usually bladder) we stop about every 2 hours. When OEM tank reads approximately 1/4 tank, I open manual valve and drive until either bladder or 1/2 tank left OEM tank. I have pumps, gauges, etc, but manual works for me.

EDIT: The Aux tank has a float gauge on it.

Ok guys I have decided to go with my local dealer his price beat Kernersville and they treated me better in fact one of the young ladies at Kernersville made a remark that WE NEED TO RAP THIS UP AND THAT I WAS TAKING UP TOO MUCH TIME LOOKING AT DIFFERENT TRUCKS...........I TOLD THE MINIMUM WAGE LADY THE NEEDS TO GET LOST AND I WILL TAKE AS LONG AS I WANT THIS IS A 70000 DOLLAR TRUCK NOT BURGER KING.
Well lets just say they no longer wanted my business because they are a volume dealer.

My local dealer said drive it ten times if you like its all part of the process.
Blackwell Dodge has earned my business and get a depost this morning, Kernersville Dodge has lost my business and could care less about my ONE truck in the total of 250 per month.

https://www.blackwellautos.com/auto/new-2019-ram-3500-limited-danville-va/38528421/

The truck is a short bed 3500 limited with every option under the sun plus air ride.

As far as I am concerned Kernersville Dodge could care less about me and my 77 grand for a truck IT IS MY EXPERIENCE KVILL ORDERS STRIPPED DOWN TRUCKS AND FOOLS PEOPLE INTO THINKING THEY ARE GETTING LARAMIE LONGHORNS AND LIMITEDS WITH NON OF THE SAFETY ITEM AND PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE LOADED BUT THEY ARE NOT THEY ARE STRIPPED DOWN WITH NON OF THE GOOD STUFF.

I drove the above truck 4 times one time for almost 30 miles and they said its a big decision we understand Kernersville could care less they just want to sell you a unit and would not care less if it works for your purpose.

I was told by MR TRUCK on youtube a SRW would handle the Jayco no problem.

Here is the Jayco..............https://www.rv007.com/2020-jayco-north-point-377rlbh-new-fifth-wheel-ringgold-va-24586-i2516000

THANKS FOR ANSWERING MY SILLY QUESTION GUYS I COULD NOT HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU ALLS INPUT LOL.

The SRW rides pretty good with the tires at 43 PSI.

Stuart

It should handle it, but you will have to be very careful loading it will easily exceed your RAWR.

The auto-level, Aisin, 5er prep, and bed liner add about 350-375lbs to the RAW over the advertised RAW. That puts a MC at about 3550 RAW without a 5er hitch. Dry pin weight is 2855, and will only go up. That’s nearly 6500 of your 7000, and you don’t have a hitch in there yet.

That’s not much. That’s about 350 lbs for a pin weight increase and gear.. of which the back seat will add weight to the RAW.
