I've read that too. Get one with the same part number or a part number within a couple of digits.

Crunch, where are you on yours? We presented a few different ways to skin this cat.

I tried that to, didn't work out as the unit is VIN matched.
At least on a 04.5 it sets a CEL as soon as the key is turned.

Mine hasn't chimed and the ABS and Brake lights haven't come on while driving since we had the cooler temps back in the Spring. The only thing that has remained constant is that the ABS/Brake lights come on as soon as I turn the key to the on position, and remain on until a second or two after the engine starts. A week or so ago I sprayed Deoxit D5 on both plugs and connectors. I'm guessing that it is cold solder joints, and I'm going to have to send it in. But I'm going to hold off on that until the weather breaks. It's August in Texas, and that makes it really miserable to get out and work on the truck unless it is absolutely necessary. Would it be correct to say that if I remove the ABS unit the brakes will continue to work normally, albeit without the ABS function?

The brakes will work normally. You just don't have ABS function. You will have a constant ABS and Brake light with the occasional chime. I was able to park mine until I got the parts. Do spray some WD-40 on the Hydraulic Control Unit after you take it out. North Texas humidity and occasional rain will cause surface rust on it.

I know about working in Texas in August. I've been working an idle issue on a 94 300 Straight Six Ford. But that is a different forum. It's Hot!!

Recently had an ABS fault with my Challenger and just dropped by the dealer to see if they cold tell me which sensor it was. I told them I would buy the part from them if they could just narrow it down.
To my surprise, they took it in back, read the code and gave me a printout showing which one it was, its P/N and the codes and P/N's for all the other ABS sensors - FOR FREE!!!
So it couldn't hurt to give them a try.

Had similar problem with mine a month or so ago, abs light went out after a couple restarts. Code reader showed drivers side front wheel speed sensor non detect. Checked resistance on sensor and it was out of range, replaced sensor and all is good.
One symptom I had was at low (couple mph) speed coming to a stop the brake pedal would pulsate and push back upwards.
