Coolant in oil? 12 valve

Hi, I’m at the dealership now looking at a 2019 Ram 2500 Cummins 4x4. I know the pre 2018s had a tpms system that constantly went off if you put tires on that required a pressure less than 80psi. Did Ram fix that on the 2019s so I won’t have a tpms alarm going off all the time if I run lower pressures?

Thanks for any and all quick responses.

Go air one down and find out, but AFIK it's still an issue.

Setting the TPMS to 80 was a fix, for what I am not sure... the trucks used to have a light load button and that went away.

I’m sure it’s set for 80psi now as it’s stock. I’m hoping someone knows if the dealer can reset the threshold to a lower level? I asked the dealer and, of course, he said it could. I wanna make sure before I buy it.

That would be a change, as dealers haven't been able to do that on older trucks. It can be done with some aftermarket software, such as AlfaOBD, but I don't know if that works on the '19's yet.

If your close to making a deal they shouldn’t mind you airing down to 35-40, adequate for an empty truck, and going for another spin.

It works on my 2017 5500, but haven't tried it on my 2019 1500... it would be for curiosity because I can't think of anything to change. Isn't there an unlock cable, just like with the tuners?

Fogs with high beams is what I’d enable.

There is, it goes between the OBDII port and the CANBUS.

18’s have the same programming as 17’s so it works when you tell Alfa it’s a 17, and have the cable. I’m not sure if ‘19’s are the same or not.

I stand, OK, lean on my answer... have you seen how crazy bright the new 4th or the new 4.5, or the 5th gen's LED lights are. It's like daylight. OK, so it's on my list after LRE truck, air compressor install on the 5500, the EGT probe on the 5500....:eek:o_O

What was the question again?:p

We drove 150 miles to see our granddaughter play in the high school band and took the 1500. Driving home on open highway I could not believe the brightness of those lights. Ram LED lights are the biggest improvement in Ram lighting ever.:) The auto dimmer is exceptional, didn't have a single oncoming driver flash their lights at me. I upgraded LED bulbs on my 2014 Jeep, and although not as good as the Ram, are pretty amazing.

Cheers, Ron

My wife has a 2019 1500. I thought it was pretty cool too, until I passed an 18 wheeler on the freeway. There wasn't any oncoming traffic. As soon as I was past the rear of the trailer the headlights switched to bright, right into the truck driver's mirrors. I don't use it any more.

I guess like everything else, things work differently for different folks... I passed 18 wheelers and from what I can tell, the 360° sensors won't allow highs to come on until I passed the vehicle. It senses when I come up on vehicles, dims them, and doesn't go to high beams until I pass them.

So far I’m impressed with the headlights and auto-high beams too. I rarely even use the fogs with lows, or highs, but it’s really nice at lower speeds on narrow back roads.

I like the fogs as they seem to cast light sideways, nice for running country two lane roads without shoulders.

I only have one complaint with the 2019 1500, and that is a couple weeks ago, the 12inch NAV reset itself to factory default, erased all saved Sirius and FM stations.

Anyhoo, I like the gadgets in wife's and my 5500.

Life is GOOD in America!

Cheers, Ron

Yes i can agree 2019 headlights are very bright on country roads, and when you turn at a corner the lights the area you are turning real nice feature.

Honestly, the headlights are the only thing i wished I had held out for a 2019 for. I'm updating the fogs on my 5500 to LEDs, LED bulbs not great for changeout in main headlights... need the whole headlight assembly swapped and the good ones are pricey.

The one thing you find out, you don't know how much BETTER something else is over what you have until you ACTUALLY see it. Still, I rate my 5500 premium headlights as BEST factory setup until factory LEDs were offered. Kinda like sirloin versus ribeye, both great, one a little better.;)

Enjoy that new rig... I know you CAN'T slap the smile off my face when driving our rigs.:D

Our 2019 1500 Limited works that way, too. I think the only time I had to manually intervene was with an oncoming car that had headlights tweaked from some front end damage and the headlights appeared to have less than a couple candlepower each and pointed in any direction but straight. The auto high beams even got faked out a couple times by the distant porch lights of two houses relatively centered to a straight ahead path out in the country that were equally bright and in a position approximating the width of oncoming headlights. Hey, it faked me out too...so no complaints here.
