This may or may not be an issue (I seem to be having bad luck with ordering parts lately). I need expert help (no reply from MagHytec yet, but in their defense I sent it at 4:00PM on a Friday):). See photo. This is paint or powder coat (not sure). Is it safe to try to remove, or just leave it there and not sorry about it.

Yes i am very picky, especially after paying $275.

I have all I need to do my transmission service this weekend and this may have to wait until I get a new one. #$&%#$ Oh well, was really looking forward to the challenge of NOT taking a transmission fluid shower! =)

UPDATE.....I took a shot and called MagHytec. Spoke to Jerry the Owner (who doesn't normally answer the phone, especially on Saturdays). Very nice man, and he assured me it is just overspray powder coat and will not effect the fluid in the pan (my biggest concern). OK GREEN Light....on with installation and the fluid and filter(s) change.

Since you are going the extra mile and adding the BIG pan are you going to do a fluid exchange while your are at it?

It's VERY easy with the 68RFE.

That pan is awesome. My transmission almost always runs at 168 with it. It did hit 183 one time. It was 104 outside with heat index at 112. Coolant was at 201. Oil Temp was at 212. and I was towing 10k.

Glad its done. I feel more at ease with the RevMax Steel Coupler, replacing the plastic OEM spin on filter screw. As far as cooler temps go.......according to my reading on the e-dash, its still at 170-172 in normal everyday driving. More shall be revealed while towing our 12K lb 5er.

The TBV will generally keep the fluid temperatures the same, although there has been an increase in the sump fluid amount. At least that was the case with my PML pan when installed on my AS69RC....

I have had a Mag-Hytec transmission pan on my 2008, 68RFE since Mar of 2009. This was installed at 16,000 miles on the OD, I now have 132,000 miles on the OD. I am running 60HP/120lb-ft over stock at the rear wheels. So the trans see all of this HP/TQ, I am also towing a 12,000 LB 5er with my truck. My trans oil temps in 90Deg ambient air temps, run between 180F and 190F with the temp probe in the oil at the pan.

The trans is serviced regularly at 60,000 miles interval with new filters and oil, I still using the plastic fitting for the spin on filter at the trans with no problems.
