Broken plastic fuel fill

Was it last year or the year before, a couple kids got washed out of the family pickup to their demise.

I think it was November up In tonto National forest. Really sad situation because at least one passenger was young; like my kids age. That’s not the typical scenario thankfully. But that’s why the laws are in place. To prevent stuff like that. But there’s always that one moron who gets stuck on his hood waiting for a heli rescue ...

You are lucky we did not see you and your truck floating away on the 5 o'clock news! In Arizona there is a fine for driving into deep washes. You might want to check or change your diff fluids.

Gee Sno, I think I know the difference between deep and swift rushing water over a flooded wash vrs designed washes over a hi way. I watched the water to determine the depth by the debris rolling in the water, before crossing. There were many other wash flows that day you had to cross to get to where your going. If I were to have to put a count to them, it would have been around 20. Also, if I were to wait for any water to drain on the road first before driving through them in the rain, in Vegas it would be illegal to drive in the rain. I'm no moron, and know the difference. The mud was from the opposite traffic going by splashing the water against the bed.

Do the 19’s not have a seal on the fuel tank door?

My ‘18 has a seal that would prevent mud splashing on the fuel cap, just like mud doesn’t splash on my seat due to door seals.

Hmm. I went out and looked at mine and I don’t think mud from a passing vehicle has any chance of getting in there.

Small gap for sure, but the hinge is behind it. Just not sure how mud would get thru that and onto the fill port.

Regardless it's a good thing to have the fill cap that Ram doesn't supply.

I had one of them fancy green ones from Geno's "UNTIL" a attendant in Oregon jumped on getting my truck ready to fill and placed the cap differently than I used to. Guess what i drove off and it is on someone else's truck right now! This one is not getting away!!!

It wasn’t heavy mud, nor was a lot of water, but I saw a small drop that looked like it splattered. I wiped it off unfortunately wondering what it was, and wiped right off. I have no idea how it got there, but the seal has a small gap into the direction of travel. It makes me wonder about the lower second trap door When driving in heavy rain or conditions I just drove in. Is there a aftermarket adaptor to eliminate the OEM setup?

Only aftermarket thing I have seen is the cap.

Yup, that seal on the fuel door does very little.
