Clueless... mechanical inquiry/help please!

That's INSANE!!! Hate to ask why it's your "FORMER" method.

I no longer live in the mountains with a wood stove being my main source of heat. I moved to town and have a gas fireplace now. I love it.

My brain was trained pretty good to avoid the knot-grab (as seen in the first part when I pull my left hand away quickly). In my 19 years, I smashed a finger once requiring stitches. Wasn't quick enough that day.

I will say, I sure liked this method better than a typical splitter...as long as the logs were the right size (not much bigger than 12" in diameter), it went quicker and less bending over.

Wouldn't work on some of the trees cut here!! 2 to 3 foot diameter is a little heavy for me to be lifting

It took a few years, but I learned not to take trees that were too big. Saved a lot of work both while splitting AND cutting down and loading.

It depends, I use a Wood Fired Boiler to heat the house. The logs CAN be 28" long to fit in the fire box. I generally cut it to 25" to make it easy to load. The door is 20x20. Let the big rounds dry well usually less that 15% moisture hit it with a fiskers x 27 it usually splits in a couple of wacks OR 35 ton Yardmax splitter. The bigger the wood the better the burn its not a small fireplace or wood stove.

It helps a lot if you own a tractor or a couple of well trained mules to help out

Been using this and one made by Stabil to store small engines for extended off winter time. After this is ran through it I take out the plug and add a few squirts of Marvel Mystery Oil into the cyl. Smokes when its first fired up but NO PROBLEMS SO FAR!!

I hear ya, this one had Stabil, just wasn't enough to overcome two years with crappy gas...plus didn't help leaving gas valve on. Thought I might luck out and it work, took carb apart and cleaned it... the float valve didnt work and gas started coming up into the carb. Happily the new one will be hear in a few days.

NOW YOU'VE WENT AND DONE IT!!
I'm jealous, my tree people are on a path that was made accidentally when I was thinning the forest for firewood. Penny & a friend wanted me to continue making a path so they could jog and stay in shape. We've been buying cedar mulch to pave it when I find enough parts to make another face ((any kind of junk) I look for a suitable tree.

I concur on both! Although my mules are of the two legged kind :D

I heard the 4 legged kind are cheaper to feed but alot less social

I don't know about being social, but my mules ARE COMPETITIVE. Ive helped a friend in the Amish community when needed, my guys seem to NOT LIKE their draft horses and have to OUT-DO the bigger relatives.

Show some pics of your faces. I'm thinking about trying to make my own eyes, noses and mouths. I have bunches of Mesquite trees that are great for this kind of art. Also, I have tractor shed mural with metal plant and varmits.

Got this cool dusting tool to get up high without getting on my nemesis the ladder.

Got lots of spider webs off the flags and cross. Been carefully as the wood letters are glued on the metal, so don't want to have to climb to replace one.

And the best part, sipping some Jack on the rocks.
