It is the reverse for Illinois than Washington state. The Black and Latinx population are having the highest infection rate and death rate among the citizens of IL, with Chicago being the leading matrix of the state. The state of IL Gov. Pritzker points this out at almost every news briefing he has.
This is our local data as of April 21, 2020 for the city of Chicago Il. https://www.chicago.gov/city/en/sites/covid-19/home/latest-data.html

How do those numbers compare with shootings and subsequent deaths from gang violence?

Ive not been in Chicago all that much ( A couple of Hockey games ) but I'm astounded that all big cities aren't morgues with apartments and project style housing. And where do most minorities live? COME ON NOW I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT!!!

You mentioned IL the parts of I have been in its not any different than IN except they have some pretty Fxxxed up gun laws. Washington? Seattle Tacoma were toilets last time I was there LOTS OF DRUG ADDICTS & Freaks of humanity.

A point that for some reason seems to elude people with why this virus looks racial LIFESTYLE

For the same time period the shooting numbers and people dying from gun shots are on the same pace as last year. But the news service is not really reporting on shooting incidents as they continue to focus on the pandemic instead.

The news services are also focusing on the heavier population issues in the city and the effect that the virus is having on the inner-city.

Down state residents are starting to complain about the measures that are being enforced for the entire state do to the Chicago problem, as they must also abide to the governor edicts for the entire state.

Friends,

Finished the tractor today. In addition to getting instrument panel back together, installed comfort fan on it. Really makes a difference when it gets hot. Previous one lasted 12 years before being taken out by a branch. Had to reinforce dash for this one. Nice find at local truck stop.

Green LEDs look nice in the dash too... leftovers from the LRE.

Next project, making EPDM roof on RV maintenance free (ok mostly) with Crazy Seal coating.

Cheers, Ron

Ron, Let us other RVER's know how the new RV roof material works out. I may want to do this to my Cedar Creek.
Jim, will do. As usual, I researched the heck out of products to either replace the EPDM with something more durable or a product to make the EPDM more durable. There are products that are hard like fiberglass, but adds around 800 lbs to the coach, which with being slightly over GVWR, I dont want, especially weight up high. This product advertises making roof more durable and nor more treatments. I'm planning after completing this project to not go on the roof any more or at least very infrequently. I'll start a separate thread in RV and towing when I start this project.

Folks around my age refer to that as a school bus fan.
,o

JH,

Yep, I usually sat behind the driver, so I'd get a little of his fan air. It got pretty hot in TX on those old IH busses with solid lifters.

Cheers, Ron

Going to give it another shot

I had one for a few months and the Grandsons & I had a blast the flying on a Buddy System so they could learn to fly, That is until Grandpa got a little to confident and needed to retrieve the plane with a Trash Bag in hand. Our new one has arrived and can't wait to get back in the air. I use to fly 60ft U-control & RC but always hated messing with the mess of fuel these electric models have come a VERY LONG way in performance.

My post is as exciting as flying RC planes, but thought it might conjure memories of a much simpler time. The other evening Vivian and I were relaxing in the swim spa when the light show started.... quite a few fireflies started shining. Not enough to get a pic, but recalled when I was 8yo in Seguin TX, eating watermelon outside and watching millions of fireflies... the night air full of them. Imagine, sitting and watching fireflies every evening. No electronics or extra activities.

Old memories of pep rallies downtown with firetrucks and police cars and the Seguin Highschool band. 4th of July, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, all pretty much the same composition of participants, a couple farmers pulling hay wagons dressed up as floats with family and friends, the Mounted Sheriffs Posse. We never missed one.

And not so long ago in 2003 in Del Rio TX, happy parade whenever Veteran returned home given a hero's welcome, and sad ones when a Fallen Veteran returned home for the last time. There are some truly wonderful communities around the country that still display patriotism, pride, and caring.

Anyhoo, just thought I'd post some simple memories.

Cheers Ya'll! Ron

There's work going on as well. Had to modify the tractor so I can get on and off of it... steps off my 00 Ram 2500.

Not sure how I spilt my post, guess I'm twitchy fingered after working. Vivian and are are taking down 5ft goat wire fence, taking up the leaning posts that had 60lbs concrete, dig hole wider, set post back in, add 200lbs concrete, set overnight, then reattach fence. Darned expansive soil swells when wet, contracts when dry, resulting in loose posts. Theory is get enough mas at the base, maybe it'll hold straight. Working 3 to 4 hours a day until done. Of course, the dogs are watching us closely.

Beautiful cactus garden I made for Vivian when I retired from the Air Force in 2006. Cactus Yellow Rose if Texas.

Chilling now, letting body recover for another fence repair day tomorrow.

I suspect if you went *deeper*, the posts would hold....

Fes3er,

No way to go deeper...posts are 8ft, 3ft in the ground and fence is 5ft, so no more depth. The black clay in a drought develops cracks I can stick my leg in. Adding more mass can help, not much else to do.

Cheers, Ron

Just for reference, these fence posts have been in the ground about 11 years. Heres a pic of one still in the ground.

This should be the last time though.

Spoke to the Verteran (Gary) today who's working on my bed... tomorrow I show up to help on it, and everyday until done. And I told him after done,im going to come by and check on him, might have to smoke a brisket and bring him some. He asked me if I was upset with him, and I asked him if I seemed like I was. He said no, and I told him he's right. I'm not. So, I'll get out early (0700ish) and hang the fence on my replanted posts.

Cheers, Ron

Will I may a run to buy more wood to build an outdoor bench. Since we are not traveling in the trailer this year so, far. When traveling to the hardwood dealer it seems as if there is no quarantine at home in place. The IL tollway and the highway had the normal traffic you would see mid-day on the roads. The only thing is that in IL the stores seem to be 50% open and you need to order ahead and have drive up pick-up with the other stores you can go in such as grocery stores.

Friends,

I had to search this out... we're still doing projects... adding a cover over the back of the 4th bay... 20'x24'x12'. My BIL is a master welder and nephew and neice master helpers.
