Same here. Great first post from a newly registered member. Most people joining here have a first post that coincides with their truck purchase.

When the picture is enlarged, looks like all these “fragments” are sure nice and dry....to have been ejected through the fuel system. Looks almost as dry as where @TFucili lives. Sorry........I iz calllllllling horse schitttttttttttt on the deal.

Please, let's have a welcoming spirit for newcomers (and remember the rule about profanity). Thank you.

Fill you signature with truck info, makes it easier for people to answer. Sounds like you have the infamous CP4 failure that plagued all other manufactures that used it. 2019 HO and I think all 2020 went to CP4. 2018 and earlier were CP3.
So only the HO In 2019 has the cp4?
Is there a way to identify the CP3 from the CP 4?
Thanks

Both LO and HO Cummins have the CP4.2 pump.... No getting away from one in a 2019+ CTD

2018 was the last year the CP3 was in a CTD, Your 2019 has one.

Hey Silver.... Any symptoms or weirdness prior or did it just shut down? What conditions? If there's anything worth telling please let us know.

I wonder how long it takes to eat itself once the piston rotates, Once it starts I'd guess it's a done deal no matter how much debris has been created. Looking under the metering unit now and then for debris most likely would not help prevent anything I figure.

Truck was running normally when I pulled up to a stop light. Then engine bogged down a little like the AC compressor starting on a gas engine and then returned to normal idle. Lights immediately went off. Alarms were Electronic throttle position sensor, exhaust system requires service, and stability control something. It started running rough (Almost like dieseling) within 20-30 seconds and died a minute or so later.

We all knew it was only a matter of time before we heard for the first CP4.2 failure on a RAM/Cummins. A few CP3 have failed over the years, however nowhere near the numbers of CP4's we heard from Ford's and GM stayed mostly closed mouth about their failures .

The dealership stepped up on a new truck. Had the choice of another 2500 one package down or an eco diesel limited. I don’t my pull as much these days so I went eco diesel.

Might want to do some ecodiesel research. From what I’ve been reading I think I’d stick with the potential CP4 issues.

Also, with that few of miles you shouldn’t have to compromise anything. They didn’t step up, they snagged you at their benefit. Wait the month for your ability to go lemon law.

Nnnnnnnnnooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!

I would have stuck to my guns and got the same trim level or even one up for being a guinea pig or ALL my money back as well as fuel, DMV and insurance $$ back. A 2020 1500 Limited gasser would be your better choice... Eco not so mucho.

I think he was talking about the loaner?

Welcome to the TDR by the way.

If its just loaner I could be persuaded to try the eco.
