PSA/ FCA issues.

I cant say succinctly for both the issue where political sub forum was deleted and we posted thread for vote to bring it back or not. I recall JHs post and responded let's hang in there. I guess he and BN decided not to go on.

Jhenderson was rough and crude, downright mean in some cases, but he spoke his mind and opinion. I respected that even if I didn't agree with him. And that happened a few times. He could've "smoothed over" some of his posts with some tact and kept his posts coming. Bignasty was in the same boat. A little tact goes a long way.

At first when I was fairly new to the TDR I too had the impression he was rough and crude, but as time went along I found it was how I interpreted some of his posts. He seemed to be more mindful of how he responded and wrote opinions etc after you mentioned his posts were rude and crude etc. I don't remember the exact words you used, but you were very diplomatic, polite and helpul to the TDR how you brought this up in the past. Thank you! He did smooth things over more in the recent past from my observations. Bottom line for me I think he is very 'strong minded" and maybe stubborn at times. Even so, he was an asset to the TDR.

Friends,

Honestly, I think inflection and tone were normal and conscious with both of these guys... they both could be confrontational and abrasive at times, basically could have an attitude. Not saying they were mean, just a little in your face. They both had a lot of good info to share and, for my part, I liked both guys and just wrote some of their posts off as colorful personalities. I think I would have enjoyed have a beer with both guys. But, there's a lot of folks out there who have a hard time dealing with this.

Everyone on here uses tone and inflection everyday, some neutral, some negative, most positive and most with clear intent. When I personally misunderstand where someone is coming from with my posts, and find I was wrong, I come back and acknowledge my error and apologize. You can usually see it escalate in controversial threads. I know some folks who are great folks who are as we might describe as gruff, but they are not on social websites. And, I know both guys knew the difference, as I saw them post in all tones and inflections. That's just who they are.

At any rate, it is what it is. There are rules we sign up to follow and there are times we have to use better judgement or tact. As paying customers, they exercised their right to disagree and ultimately quit the TDR. Life goes on...

Cheers, Ron

Exactly. This is where the use of some emoticons or smilies can really help you convey what you mean.
dieselshadow this is good advise. Thank you.

I've been active on the TDR for approximately three years or so and at first I found it very difficult to convey my thoughts in replies and creating posts etc. Seriously, I have found writing on forums and the TDR to be an "art form" and there are many members on this site that are very skilled at conveying their thoughts and details. I'm still learning and trying my best, but I know in the past I have posted replies that could have come across the wrong way due to my lack of writing skills and after posting the reply realized it could be interpreted as being a real "SMART ALECK". Not my intention at all. I have found humor to be the most difficult to convey and I'm just now getting to the point where I think I can start to use emoticons. :)
