What am I getting into?

8500 ft tow possible?

It’s been a while since I dropped the fluid in my 5600. I can’t recall at all how much it takes. I haven’t filled by the shift tower before, so the folks who do (or did and remember) who much fluid should I order?

My 05 called for a little more than that at 4.75 quarts.

With my FAST coolers I think I had 8-9 quarts in it.

I think that is what is called for but it wont fit. Mine holds 1 gallon. I think the book assumes a level transmission on the floor, in the truck it hangs down a bit so the plug is a little off. I never overfill.

FYI the 5600 suffered from bearing lubrication issues and actually prefers to be overfilled, especially the early ones. If I remember right from years ago, I think one quart overfill was the general consensus.

Not that its the same transmission but my 4500 has Fastcoolers and I have upwards of 7 quarts in it and it runs no hotter than 200* even while towing heavy.

The Core bushing is on its way, and now I’m rounding up enough syncromesh fluid. Seems that each chain store only has 1-2 on the shelf.
I was very close to getting a short throw hurst shifter kit from core, but there’s SO MANY other things I have to focus on right now.

Like the G-56's can you elevate one of the front corners of the truck and pour another qt in their or do you have to use the shift tower?
