Tire Load Range Ratings

I meant to say something about that bracket but I forgot. When I took the temp tag off it was bent.

It was in a poor location so now I can do something different with it.

Put both trucks to work today, with my old loader operator of back in the day. He is top notch in all logging duties. With my drivers bum ankle I am getting behind. Hauled 5 yards of cinders with us, to fix a bad spot that causes me grief, but even tho we haven't had any rain in a while, it was dry on top, but no bottom. So there the '91 sat, truck and trailer sunk. I had the loader, so I went around because I knew it was deceptive. We unloaded it and barely pulled it out. We spread it as we pulled and got unloaded. Then I used the loader to fix the mess. We will go around for a while, but dang I hate the big barrow ditch we have to cross.

I need to check the batteries in the Lamar or the charger. After 4 dumps they were really weak. Too tired last night to check. They should have been fully charged as I plug it in every night when I use it.

The '91 only got 11.44 mpg yesterday but one round was loaded both ways. The '01 only got 10.55 with one round loaded both ways. The '91 is about 3k lighter than I am and I load him with 7 buckets and me 10. I will get a better check today with the normal one way loaded, one way empty. It might have something to do with my new driver, he chased me all day:D Sure am glad I don't have CB's in my trucks, he would drive me crazy back in the day. He is about as full of it as they come, he kept everyone in stitches in the old days. I can see a few fun days ahead:)

Really starting to like the torsion axles. We cross a small angled washout near the stock pile and when the truck crosses, you get the left-right roll action that gives you side whiplash, even in 1st gear. You can't feel the trailer cross, loaded or empty. When you watch it in the mirror, you see a slight bobble, that's it. Nice!

The '91 got 12.24 mpg and the '01, 11.50.

My Son picked up his new 22k dump trailer. The one he first bought did not set level so they ordered him a freshly built unit with the part that goes over the tailgate is higher allowing the trailer to run level. It has oil bath and Torsion Axles. Hope it does not get stolen as his last two bumper pull 14k dumps have.

Yes, they offer a 6" taller riser on the neck for tall trucks. When I was shopping for this trailer I found one in Arizona but it had the tall riser and no pinstriping, so I didn't want it, plus big $$$.

This is what I used to level my Lamar and new PJ. It works good for my truck and still has plenty of room at the top of the tail gate. It might not work on your son's truck, it looks taller than mine. Note the pin holes, the new hitch allows 5" more drop than the oem.

Sure he could have used the riser but it would have been riding front high all the time, that's NoBueno when running torsion axles!

So the new trailer rides level as shown in the pic as it should be.

Ground up 40 yards of a special blend of compost/manure this morning. 30% compost (aged ground pine needles/wood pieces) 30% horse, 20% alpaca/grass hay mix and 20% cow. Looks good and should be a fine mixture for soil amendment.

Compost that I used, not the pup:)

Final mixture.

I am confused....6" taller riser on the gooseneck equals more money, more wind resistance, more flex and adds weight. Or a 5" drop with the bulldog hitch.

That's some good looking fertilizer Nick. Who are your primary customers that buy your stuff? Do you have to buy the horse and alpaca discharge or do you have a donor?

Thanks JR. Mostly home owners, I do have a few serious growers that are repeat customers. The soil in the high country desert is horrible for growing so it takes a lot of material of all kinds to get anything to grow. The manures are all free for pickup, I do have to pay for the compost. The grinder that was used for it makes the material a little too big (wood chips) so I grind it smaller with my grinder and mulch sized screens so they have a choice. I can grind about 20 yards an hour.

Latest PJ Dump mod....Hi Ho Silver...Away!

Sometimes I have to spread pretty fast, then my helper can't keep up, so now she rides:D

Also added some tie downs for the cord to pass through so it don't fall off the fender and get run over.

Busy day yesterday with the PJ. After dumping the chips we loaded, hauled & dumped 14 loads of gravel in 5 hours. Real short haul so not much charge time between dumps. The two batteries held up well. I do have to modify the PJ dumps tail gate chains, they are pulling through the chain slot on the light weight uprights.

Talk about a rain forest, a 1/4 acre lot produced 4 loads of chips, 1 load of logs (57 small ones), 1 load of firewood (Oak & Alligator Juniper), 2 loads of stumps, plus 1 large tree that had 4 nice logs in it.

Been a busy year so far, 10K+ miles on the new dump already, 5 months old. KTI sent me a new wireless controller for the Lamar under warranty so it is fixed, no more dead batteries.

I do have an issue with customers, my own doing, Lol. Not sure how to approach it, my driver says leave it alone, but...

To be the best and one up the big truck competition we will dump/spread (cinders) in multiple locations, per load @ no charge. It seems like the more you do the more they want. Yesterday, it took 30 minutes to dump one load, 4 drops. It's killing me, time is money and there ain't much there in the first place. But then you get comments like, "sweet, awesome and you are the best" with some big repeat customers over and over. What do ya do?:(:) Thinking about $10 per dump beyond the first one, that will probably stop most of it.

Thinking about advertising as such and with new customers stick to it but let the old ones slide. Eventually it will switch over and be the norm. This is not just with cinders but all material, it's amazing what they want/expect. Like I said, it is mostly my own doing and when you only haul one load per day it's not such a big deal but when it is 3 or 4 per day, it adds up.

I agree with your driver. Repeat customers are a valuable commodity. Without them you will have plenty of time, but less money.

Set a FREE on-site time limit, and hourly rate thereafter. People don't understand time is money. As long as it's explained on the front side people will understand.

Thanks for the feed back guys. Most customers are old with no equipment. So If I don't help them out with multiple spreads they have a lot of work to do, some just can't do it.

And like Gary said...I remember the days of just starting, lots of couch time which I hate. You can't put a price on staying active and healthy....

The Boy is giving his new dump a good workout these days. 27k combined is a bit over the 26k allowed in TX. Looks like he needs an endorsement to be "LEGAL". His 3500 SRW LB Limited with AISIN handles the load well.
