Anybody tried the 4' Phillips LED tubes w/ ballast bypass??

Also, I have found that, when replacing tubes in a 4-tube fixture, I only needed to put 2 LED tubes in- they're bright enough that putting all 4 in wasn't needed.

Yes in 4 tube unit I been installing just 2 tubes using the outboard tubes position since these LED tubes are so much brighter.

I don’t think you can have too much light in a shop/garage. I was going to put my lights on 2 switches and am glad I didn’t waste the wiring. 4 4 row fixtures at 8800 lumens a fixture is pretty good for the 20x36 bay they are in. The lights are at 18’ and my insulation is very reflective.

Temperature does not affect them at all, I have these replacement tubes in my small heated garage at the house and even at 45 degrees they fire up at full brightness right out of the gate. The previous standard tubes would flicker at those temps.

Down at the two unheated garages the LED units I installed do the same, instant full brightness no matter what the temperature. The LED's are the way to go....

The Daughters garage in Minot is like a cave with a couple 60 watt incandescents thats why I ask. Maybe being the great Dad that I am I will do something about that at their new to them house.

These are what I used at the unheated garages, see they are out of stock. I just bought 8 more in December...

I wish I had bought 4 more if they have moved to an "Unobtainium" status....

Just checked the new place.

It was at least -20° last night. No heat in either garage right now.

Hit the lights, no hesitation or flickering..Probably 10° inside.

Yes, extremely pleased.

We enter the house through the garage 90% of the time so the lights are constantly being switched on and off. No bulb issues yet.

AND my light bill dropped noticeably after converting the garage lights to LED....like a solid $30.00 bucks a month...I thought at first the Meter Readers might have done a drive by but I now believe it was the conversion in the garage that caused the decrease....

Our lifestyle is quite consistent other than during the summer months so it is very easy to notice a drop in power consumption especially if it continues for three months. We went from 110.00 / 120.00 a month to 70.00 / 80.00 a month....

Now it has gone up to $200.00 a month BUT I have 2 RV's plugged in since Memorial Day and have two A/C units running in the house when it's hot....no place to go this summer so both kids and their families camping up here to the lake.....

I like this brand and I thought they might be good since you can use with or w/o a ballast.

What wasn't clear for to me on their website is that it can be used with a T8 ballast ONLY - not a T12 - oh well. Of course it can be used w/o a ballast too.

Seem to be nice and bright, no flicker. Haven't used with a ballast yet - have several older t12 that needed ballasts, so are slowly installing these bulbs.

I converted several fixtures a few years ago with LED tubes on sale at HD and they have been working great.

Yea, hoping these last longer than the crappy Phillips bulbs (florescent) I purchased in the past. I mark the ends of the bulbs with the install date so I know how long they lasted.
