I live in Phoenix, AZ. and have found that white seems to be the most forgiving color here in the desert. Never seems to get too hot in the sunlight, you can put your hand on a white vehicle that is heat soaked and not get burned like on a darker color. The white color doesn't look as good on day one as some of the other colors do but, the day you sell the vehicle, the white still looks pretty good. Years ago, I bought a silver Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham D'elegance and it was my Friday/Saturday night car. Over a couple years time period, the silver faded and it was in the garage almost all the time. Only went out at night, like the Batmobile. Same thing with a red 1980 Mercedes-Benz, 300-D. Only went out Friday & Saturday night and maybe to church on Sunday morning. Always in the garage and washed & waxed numerous times per year. And the paint faded on it too. I washed and waxed it so much that the paint on the hood was coming off and I could see the primer thru the red. None of these cars had a ton of miles on them, either. Just not good AZ. colors. I now have a 2014 white Cadillac, XTS, white tri-coat (pearl white) & I've never had it in the garage and it still looks good. I wax it once or twice a year. Just had it washed yesterday & it still looks good. If I bought a Rolls-Royce, I'd look for a white one! (Not planning to!). My experience has been that the white is the most practical color out here in the desert. Car interiors and tires (rubber products) seem to suffer the most in this climate.
