Unfortunately my 2019 didn't come with Cab Clearance Lights and I have been trying to order them for over a year! No one can tell me when they may be come available....anyone else have this issue? Or insight as to the delay or when they may come available? Thanks in advance.

The Gen 4 kits are avail and will work on 19-20, but want to go with the 19-20 lights as they are LED and look a little better IMO.

Wonder if the led ones have the same mounting holes to be used on older trucks? My 18 has mopar add on cab marker lights. Would swap to mopar led if they'd fit. The led probably have a connector on them though. Unless they have a plug that goes into the bulb socket, one would have to cut wires and add spade or bullet connectors.

They do not. They changed the mounting on the new LED lights. In fact, they require a square cutout which makes adding them even more of a challenge to install or retrofit. Everyone I know that has added them to a 19+ truck has used the old version for that reason.

There are aftermarket ones 2013 to 2018 that will work on an original installation, but not on an upgrade, which tells me they are not compatible. I think its tougher on the aftermarket ti produce low demand items like this. Googling looks like you could buy the lights individually and make your own kit, but would be pricey.

I like cab lights, my wife doesn't, so her 1500 won't be getting them. I've installed cab lights on a 2nd and 3rd gen, wasn't much to it... about 3 hrs and two beers. :p:D

Looks like either using a prior gen or waiting out FCA to make a kit.:(

I don't like them either see no purpose for them on a pick-up truck! My older son wanted to put them on my truck and I said no-way. In my opinion just another leak point into the cab from a failed install or seal failure!

He has them on his hanger QUEEN, a 2006, 2500 Dodge Quad Cab Long Bed with under 30,000 actual miles on the OD. The truck only will be driven if it had not rain for three days in the past from when he want's to take the truck out of the garage or there is no forecasted rain for three days in advance.

Dually trucks are required by law. Snow plow trucks need them with the extra width of the plow, which is why they put them on the snow plow trim trucks. Otherwise, it's owners choice. I like them for improved visibility. But the op didn't ask for ya or na opinions lol

I have yet to see any aftermarket led cab marker lights that I liked or had good reviews for life and leaks.

Earl,

Have to agree with you on OEM is the way to go... or if you find OEM equivalent quality. Sometimes the company that makes the OEM ones also sells them on thier own. On my former 03 2500, I found OEM quality equivelant LED kit on Ebay that was great, still no leaks in 9 years with my niece being the owner now.

Just like so many other thangs, folks have different experiences, different likes/dislikes, and all is good.

Will since my domestics supervisor does not like wide hips on a truck (DRW) I will never have to worry about cab clearance lights. Now how do yellow tinted cab clearance lights improve night time visibility for the driver of said truck to see down the road?

Visibility to be seen by others. Were you being serious?? Lol Ponder on it a bit. Not only that, but they designate a wide vehicle to others. So when your trailer is wider than your truck, duals, snow plow, mirrors in tow position, etc. Sometimes you see the cab marker lights pop over the hill before you see anything else. Hate them or not, they serve a purpose and have been around forever and required by law in some situations.

Just want to make sure I understand you correctly.

2019+ Cab lights will not fit on a 2018 that doesn't have cab lights at all?

I'm debating on adding them... I understand the risk, but really like the way they look.

I installed cab lights on my 1998 Ram back in the day and never leaked for the 6 years I owned the truck.

Dean,

Just like ever other subject on the TDR, opinions abound. I'm like you, I REALY like cab clearance lights. So do most, at least here in TX anyway. You're hard pressed to find a 2500 or 3500 SRW without them here.

My advice is to find a good aftermarket set of LED cab lights and install them. I've never had a leak and I installed them on a 00 Ram 2500 and on an 03 Ram 2500, the 03 were LED smokes, which were super cool looking with smoked head and taillights. Several keys to ensure no leaks... precision placement measurement, clean holes drilled, RTV around screws, screw holes, and light smear on bottom of rubber gasket. AND MOST IMPORTANT, DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.

Both kits I installed had great instructions, and took around 3 hours to install. While you have the headliner down, get yourself some Fat Mat or Dyna Mat Extreme and install it to inside roof. You'll be amazed at how much sound reduction and temperature stability it provides.

Anyhoo, I hope this helps and just go get the D'd things and gitr done!

Looking for the project writeup and pics soon.

Cheers, Ron

I assume square hole is due to a connector instead of a bulb socket. But if the existing round hole is big enough, the square would pass through. The mopar add on kit wouldn't need square holes, how would you make square holes in the field without a special tool much like they use to make holes in electrical panels, but square.

Found pics of the 2019+ cab lights. They use a wiring connector. They are also made by recon for Chrysler. The area that goes through the cab is square, but would fit in a large enough round hole. Provided the round hole won't go past the seal. I couldn't find a Mopar add on kit on a few minute search.

Check out my link above. I do not get anything from it but will be ordering in the future. They look like a great addition. Only downside i have seen is they use a remote to come on and off but that allows you to add a strobe to the mix if you wanted to have that option. I am going to go back to having mine on a strobe kit so that I can use them as hazards when on the side of the road helping people. Just thought these were pretty cool because you don't have to drill any holes and can remove them since they are just attached with auto 3m.

Thanks, I'm good. I I have the mopar add on kit installed. Holes were added. Lol

Cool beans:D... so where's the writeup and pics?:p:D
Dealer did it when the truck was bought as part of the sale. Looks easy. Came with a huge template that you tape on the cab and drill away. Didn't seem right to have a 3500 crew cab long bed 4wd beast of a truck and not have cab markers. I told them I can't buy no tow beast with no cab lights. Next thing I know I'm signing picking it up with cab lights. lol
