with 102K on the clock now, I just had a front hub Fail. No advance warning, Just sudden failure at 50 mph. All of a sudden it sounded like I was driving on a rumble strip.
Anyway, I usually use Moog, Is Moog still the way to go for Hub assembly, And I have a tight caliper on drivers side. So Probably will replace Rotors, pads and Calipers.
I see many threads about heavy duty orange pads from Summit? Is there a Favorite brake manufacturer? Its New England with salt, so no drilled slotted?
I drive it daily and tow. Want great stopping power and decent life too.
Experienced opinions please and Thank you

I know a lot of the posters on TDR do not prefer Moog parts, just saying. I have had a passenger side tie rod that failed completely at 82,000 miles on my truck. The ball joints were also starting to fail, there was end play in the ball joints. So, when I had the steering linkage rebuilt, I used Moog parts for the ball joints and tie rod ends. The Moog parts were easy to obtain and they have the ability to grease them. In servicing of the front end the front hubs were still in good shape so at 82,000 miles and were able to be removed to replace the ball joints.

At 126,000 miles I had a front RH u-joint that had some play in the joint, that needed to be replaced. Also, the RH sealed hub wheel BRG could not be removed from the axle this time so, the hub had to be heated and destroyed to repair the u-joint. So, I had the service garage replace both front wheel BRG hubs at this time. I used OEM hub assemblies since I was able to get 126K miles of use out of them. For brake pads I always use NAPA since this what my service garage uses.

I have an independent service garage that I trust extremely well that does most of my main service work on my truck. Most of the parts and labor come with a 5 year/50,000 miles warranty from the service garage.

At 71 years young I no longer want to crawl around on the cold concert floor to service my vehicles anymore. The only thing I do now is change the oil and filters plus rotate my tires. This is when I do all of the grease that is required.

Sorry for being so long winded on this replay.

SKF bearings, May as well go with OEM universal joints since you’ll be really close anyway. Don’t condemn the brakes as being worn just yet, you may get by with cleaning and greasing the pins on the calipers.

If you do need brake parts.....I’d stick with OEM friction material and rotors, too.

you should give EBC pads a try.

SKF makes the OEM hubs from what I recall, either way grease them through the ABS hole and you should have lots of trouble free miles, for brakes I have used EBC but like PowerStop pads better personally.

I see Timken comes with metallic and non metallic shield Near sensor? I think its referring too the speed sensor jacket? Not sure which the factory is, as Mine is still covered by a rusted in Rotor.

hmm, timken has 12 month warranty, SKF has 36 month? SKF a little more money too. I have always trusted Timken But Wonder which is better now?

thank you Everyone for the great replies, I will look for EBC Pads and Rotors. the factory rotors are a little glazed and had new pads at 90K. I could definitely use much better brakes. Timken sounds good to me too. So off I go searching.

EBC is expensive!!! But worth it to me.

Yeah,Powerstop's here too. Very little dust, silent and they still impress me on hard braking.

My Son put PowerStops on his 15 Limited LB SRW along with rotors on all four corners. He was impressed with the improvement, I had a chance to drive it. I can tell you and he will agree my DRW with just changing the fronts to EBC's Orange Towing Pads has better braking than his truck. I still need to do the rears. My truck empty probably is 800-1,000# heavier than his.

Did the 3rd gen upgrade on my 01 Sport with same pads and their rotors plus power stop 3rd gen cradles and calipers. The braking is INSANE!!!

Bravo. My 98.5 2500 auto had way under engineered brakes.
