My dad just picked his 17 up from service and said they had a bunch of software updates. He wasn't sure what all they entailed.

Maybe it's worth asking if they have anything for you.

i will ask about the updates, going to the dealer tomorrow for a couple parts. To my knowledge, it hasn't been updated since I got it. I just ordered a tablet and the OBD link for the AlfaOBD software. I'll get it in a couple days, then get the software. Looking forward to getting some data to go along with all the info you guys have given me. Appreciate all of this, believe me.

Its hard but sometimes dealers are just lazy.

No update since 2017 is hard to believe.

dealers are not the best to deal with in my opinion. just an example, had the truck in for the warranty transmission service, with a filter change, got the truck back and later discovered the mechanic had reused the old pan gasket and covered it with silicon sealant and charged me for a new gasket. lazy, yes. I checked all of my dealer receipts and none of them have a software flash or update listed on them. I'll check tomorrow if there are outstanding updates and try and get the PIN code while Im there. Thanks for your input on this.

You have to remember this, dealers won't do software updates UNLESS they are a required update OR you happen to have a specific symptom that is included in the update.

Ive always thought that but my dad made no complaints and wasn’t told of anything mandatory for his multiple updates. He’s going to see if the invoice says what they are for.

Is it possible the cooling system is not full? With out a radiator cap, how do you know? Something amiss between the fill bottle and radiator?

My local Dealer (not even who I bought it from) would do updates any time I brought it in for something. Which was, IIRC, twice. Once for a rear main and once for a DEF pump. They updated it both times.

I don't like when the Dealer works on my stuff. When they did the rrear main, the mech forgot to top off the auto transmission fluid. It was only down a couple quarts and I caught it a couple weeks later but, still.......

Even my Indie, who I respect and like, didn't top off my coolant after my EGR fell off. Wasn't a lot but again.............

You gotta watch these guys. All of them. Never assume. Always verify everything. Check and double check.
