the manual says to remove transmission transfer case and then remove engine . If it makes life easier I’ll do it . Also thinking it may be easier to drop the front axle a few inches
I think I would take a long look at the transmission/t-case before I removed it. Unless you need it out for repairs I would leave it bolted in the truck. All you need is about 3" of clearance to clear the input shaft. I have not ever removed a Cummins out of a Dodge but the 500# NV5600/t-case combo is more than a handful. I do realize your NV4500 is lighter, but still....
To remove the transmission you have 2 drive shafts, 4x4 shift linkage, vacuum lines, rear mount/crossmember and the dang floor board/mats, I hate that part
