I like stacks on a truck, but...

Nissan Titan 5.0

I bought a Kubota L4240 many years ago. It was replacing a '62 Farmall 504 that had limited usefulness to me. (no loader or 4WD) They had a 0% financing event so I got a decent trade-in on my old one and a bit off the package price. The payments are long since done and I've enjoyed having this machine around. It has saved my back and allowed a lot more projects to happen more easily. My wife talked me into splurging for the cab (with heat and A/C) which seemed to $pendy in my mind, but I'm so glad I listened to her. I almost didn't get the quick attach fork attachment, but I've been glad the dealer talked me into that one too. The 7' snowblower has kept our road open a few times when my truck couldn't and the rear grader blade with top & tilt has kept it graded all these years. (the county doesn't come here much anymore) Having 3 rear remotes is not something you will find often in the used market, but they sure are handy.

Biting the bullet and financing about 30k over 5 years wasn't terrible, but having a machine with no questionable past was nice. I wouldn't say it's made a lot of money for me, but I've done some grading , and brush hog/clearing projects for a few people. Slightly more horsepower would be nice sometimes. Just the weight of the loaded rears going uphill would bog it down. I just replaced the rear rubber and they only have air, so I have a good comparison. It's a decent size tractor for getting work done, but small enough to trailer easily.

Everything you see here was less than 30k @0% for 5yrs.. (truck and old gooseneck excluded) So far "I" am very happy with the capability and size on my 7ac wooded property, If I need more I rent a big CAT or CASE... but same reason you don't use a 8# sledge to drive nails.....every tool has it purpose.:D

When I was looking, I almost bought a 2001 NH 29HP with loader, asking was 14.5K, I paid 19K for the 2032R and 220R loader brand new on a "blue tag sale".. then added the subframe backhoe and box scraper and got another big discount during Deere's annual "drive green" sales event..... have 98h on it now........ My main decision was not having to fix / work on it... I figured at 15k for a 500h used tractor that needs servicing (oils, filters, etc) I would be spending another 1k and have a 20y old tractor that was only a few thousand less, then I have to pay interest on a used unit or pull out of savings so letting JD cover it was a no brainer ( Kubota also had 0% ). Yes it has a DPF, ECM, Elec everything.. but I aint scaird....

Bought this little beauty in Nov 2018. Wasn’t looking for a tractor, hadn’t even thought about it.

Wife did some painting for the seller who knew me and told her that he had a deal for me....they were moving and had no use for the tractor at the new place..

2004 B7500 Kubota with bucket and Woods backhoe. 160? hours on it, just like new.
No electronics.....shut off is even manual.

It’s has plowed snow, pushed down a shed, dug a 100’ drainage ditch and carried all the crushed rock to fill around the perforated pipe,
Also dug up stumps, carried brush, picked up furnaces, carried shingles, and several other tasks.

One battery, a complete service, one flat tire....that’s it in two years of pretty hard use.
Valve bank on the backhoe starting dripping, I will reseal that in the spring.

That’s it...

yep... I don't get a shovel out anymore unless I cant fit the backhoe in..:D

That's a real nice Kubota, That was a GREAT find, older compact tractors in good condition are about as easy to find as hens teeth, and usually asking almost new prices (similar to Ram trucks these days).. I looked hard at them, but did not care for the HST pedal on the Kubota vs. Deere... It literally came down to that single point.

The HST pedal did take a little getting used to, have to be real careful when wearing big winter boots..

But now I have the brain trained....

Backhoe bucket has the most power when it comes to rocks and stumps. I am used to bigger machines and was a while getting used to one function at a time, move main boom, move stick boom, curl bucket, main boom, stick boom, swing...repeat...:)

It has two seats so I quickly learned to press one of the grandsons into service as a driver when ditching....I stay right in my seat, pick up the outriggers and yell....tractor goes ahead, yell again, put outriggers down...:D

Yeah.. me too, my 10y son loves to be "tractor driver" sounds like our units are almost the same in design.. I too was used to big CATs, but these little compacts are very good (and maneuverable) just cant take a tree out in one scoop :D....

I would've really liked having a backhoe or trencher for my solar project last year. I had about 90' of trench to dig and figured a rented trencher would still leave a lot to do by hand, so I bought a couple narrow shovels and just did it all by hand. I needed the exercise, but I never guessed there would be so many potato-sized stones or that I had driven over (and compacted) my yard so much.

I looked at kabota before I bought the Mahindra, dealer had kabota at 0% interest. for 5 yrs., I asked how much, dealer said cash or finance, I said 0% finance, he quoted 19k, I asked how much if I pay cash, he said 16k, so it sounds like 0% interest. Is really 3k, anyhoo I walked out, there was tons of used kabotas for sale all over, I wondered if they are so good....why so many of them were for sale, That was one reason I went with Mahindra

Friends,
Here's my little back saver:
20161105_151757.jpg

MF1428V, purchased in 2004 new, 0% interest 4years, 20% off implements (box blade, PH digger, front end loader, backhoe, 72" finish mower) $23K. It now has 1100 hours and still runs like a top. Once a year, I wash and wax it and change the oil. All standard except power steering.

Cheers, Ron
