So.....they changed the size of the nut on the underhood canister lid from 28 mm?
It’s always been 29 mm . On my 14 also . 28 for the Genoa billet cap
Well thats news to many of us that have been using the 28mm socket for years now.
Don't need to go that far. I've gotten away with just a 15 qt oil pan for all the oil and fuel filter changes! The oil filter cap fron Geno's is the "bomb" for doing the oil change! I've only changed it from the wheel well until adding remote oil filter with a bypass mount under passengers floorboard. Looking forward to that change. Just drop the skid plate I made and filters right there! You can get a water heater drip pan to help with the mess. Use one for filters and when working on brakes. Just wish I'd thought about using one earlier with my other vehicles! Learn new tricks as you get older, I hope that's the case! Thanks for the tips. Sounds like this could be messy. I think I am going to buy a plastic kiddies swimming pool and shove it under the truck when I change fluids while wearing a body condom!!
I found an older Amsoil kit that worked for me. You could piece one together if needed. With mine, I have the feed and return in place of the oil filter with bypass mount on frame under passenger floorboard. toughest part was making a skid plate to protect the filters. I liked the fact of having the bypass filter to catch more debris. You could also just run two regular filters if you wanted. I know there's a whole debate on it's not needed, but it's my truck and I like keeping the oil as clean as possible! Also like the fact that it adds a couple more quarts oil to the engine. Thanks Topzide!! What bypas mount did you use? Or did you make our own kit?

How does that set up work, is the Amsoil filter running full flow or is flow restricted like a true bypass set up?
Not a revelation at all.....it’s been printed on the underhood canister fuel filter instruction sheet for years. Reference picture above back to a fuel filter change I performed in June of 2015....Well that's a revelation !
The full flow gets full flow, and the bypass is restricted.
The older units use a pressure valve and an orifice, while the newer units just use an orifice.
I'm just trying to picture how the flow goes if it does not directly go through both filters, I only see two lines which suggests one supply and one return.
When I had a bypass on my 98 it was completely separate from the full flow, plumbing and all.
With the bypass filter along with full flow allows for cleaner oil. We all know how after changing our oil it is black as coal. This setup allows me to see through the oil on dipstick. Yes I probably don't need it, but it is my money to waste on my truck as I want. As long as there are no leaks in the system, which I held my breath after the install, it's all good! The extra oil in the system doesn't hurt either!
Why go thru that hassle and not run a better main oil filter?
The Donaldson DBL7349 is a much better full flow filter. The Amsoil EaO080 uses the same media. Both far exceed the Fleetguard oil filters.
