Aside from the safety chain attachment, which is a big deal, the rest of the stuff did it’s job to absorb impact. Overall I’d be pretty happy the with the truck.

Both are likely totaled thou, as there appears to be some major frame damage around the GN mount.

Yes I do think once they get a close look the frame on the truck will be messed up.

He was planning to install a B&W auto lock coupler but had not gotten around to it. I wonder if it would have popped loose also.

I am VERY thankful he wasn't running BobTail!!!

We were both stopped in my 98 and hit at 30mph dead center in the rear, that was no fun!!! My neck is still messed up.

He said he feel fine other than his head is still a bit foggy. I understand what feels like!!!

Have not heard about rental truck. They probably want to give him a 1/2 ton.

This is hurting his Business of flipping houses. So the reality is he needs another trailer and truck to pull it with.

Tow Truck driver trying to remove the coupler, didn't come out. Doors won't open on trailer.

How is your son doing, healing I hope. Any updates on truck and trailer?

Gave my trailer a workout this week, hauled 4 loads of logs. About 6-7 ton on this load.

My new flatbed was to be ready for pickup Monday but they called and left a message but no info, just for me to call them. Since they were closed when I got in I don't know what about. I assume it is not ready so I will need to call Monday and re-schedule my pickup date. Grrrr....we have been using e-mail for contact for the last 4 months and now he don't remember how to use it??

I can't get cranky with them because trailers have went up 17% since I placed my order. They will just put it on the lot, mark it up, and sell it in a day or two .....

I hate that when they have the upper hand:D

"How is your son doing, healing I hope. Any updates on truck and trailer?"

Thanks for asking!

His neck is still stiff but feeling good otherwise.

Truck doing in Monday for about a month for repairs of 19k. He sent pics for trailer and received 3k check, told him not to cash it as it has not yet been looked at by Trailer Repair Shop. It was just towed there a couple days ago. I am betting much bore $$$ for the trailer.

He did get a new 21 RAM 2500 4x4 for a rental. He said it really runs good.

Son just told me his trailer is totaled. Frame is severely damaged. Also was just informed his truck frame is bent and needs to be replaced.

I wonder what it costs to replace a frame??? That seems like a LOT of labor.

Another sucky thing is it will take 10-12 weeks to get a new trailer.

Thoughts on disk brakes with oil bath ? His current has drums with oil bath.

The truck will likely be totaled out vs replacing the frame. The labor will be huge, and I doubt a frame is cheap or even available. Thou I was surprised it wasn’t totaled out already... then again it took them this long to determine the frame was bent, despite the photos indicating so.

Discs will always be better than drums. He may not notice a major change with flat land city driving, but it will be better.

So let’s say 5k for labor and 5k for frame plus the 19 estimate still is around 30k.

truck is fully loaded Limited 3500 AISIN and rear air with around 150k for miles. I would think it’s worth around 50k ?

I read something about Texas totals at 100% of value.

Hey Ron, all GN trailers come with an adjustable coupler.

I am pretty shocked they would even consider replacing the frame....please keep us posted!

I would also bet the 10-12 week lead time could easily end up being more. I just bought a 2020 dump trailer, nobody around here even had what I was specifically looking for. All the big dealers said maybe by end of June (this was early March) and also would not quote me a definite price. They could quote me a price for today but the prices have gotten so volatile and materials so scarce. Things will go one of two ways in the next few months....just food for thought if he is thinking about ordering something and holding out.

When we had a vehicle totaled a couple years ago the cost for total was somewhere around 80% of value. The value wasn’t retail or trade-in, but in the middle.

It’s all about what is cheaper for the insurance company. The salvage value on the truck will also be fairly high and gets included into the equation, as well as the duration of repairs and associates costs like a rental.

His truck is in the 45-50K range based on a quick value search.

If they fix it a frame replacement is much better than a frame repair.
