I may have misunderstood you.....and posted my engine oil change intervals in post #99 above.

I’m still shooting for 30k drain and fills and 60k sump filter changes on the ol’ AS69RC.....although I miss them on occasion.

Yea I was going g WTF???

I would think since you put about as good of mileage on a rig as possible you could extend those changes by double with no ill effects.

I would do an analysis just for fun to see how the fluid is doing at 30k.

Below are some mileage figures indicating where I’ve “missed the mark” on service mileage intervals, but with seemingly no ill results:

30k drain and fill at 33,362 miles
60k sump filter service at 59,516 miles
90k drain and fill at 92,279 miles
120k sump filter service at 120,143 miles
150k drain and fill at 153,632 miles
180k sump filter service at 188,304 miles
210k drain and fill at 223,840 miles
240k sump filter service at 257,448 miles
270k drain and fill at 292,808 miles
300k sump filter service at 325,612 miles

Looking at the intervals between the actual drain and fills and the sump filter changes....it’s not been over a lot in mileage on average.

A friend works on ISUZU's with the AISIN for United Site Services, the port o potty company. The type of treatment these things get I can see sticking to the suggested service. I have heard of one that had to be replaced at around 350,000 miles.

Once I am out of warranty I will do a Blackstone Sample and see what they say.

I’m confident that the short interval is due to the old spec of the fluid. Any modern compatible fluid should easily be able to get 2-3x the service life.

Are you running Amsoil in your AS69RC John? If so.....are you doing scheduled maintenance by the book or extending it some?

I am running Amsoil ATF and following the OEM intervals for now. I am not opposed to extending the intervals after my warranty is up.

My wife’s 4runner uses the same spec fluid and never, seriously never, calls for a change. I’ve flushed it twice and drained and filled it once. It has 206K on it, and nowhere near the cooling my AS69RC has, so I really don’t believe the 30K interval is necessary.

White Lightning received a transmission service with a new MoPar sump filter and Mobil 3309 fluid, a transfer case drain and fill with Dexron VI, a rear axle fluid change and front axle fluid change with 75W90 GL5 full synthetic, and I used a suction pump and removed what ATF+4 I could from the power steering reservoir.

Truck is at 398,065 miles and 6,953 drive hours.

Wow, congrats on reaching that major milestone... you might hit 450K or 500K by the time replacement truck arrives.

Good luck staying trouble free.

Happy Trails, Ron

I wish I had a transmission. :D

looked at MOPAR trans filter the other day while checking on my illusive trans. No where on it did it say MOPAR. It’s only name is Denso.

very cool knocking on 400k

Please re read what i said. "I looked at a MOPAR trans filter" That means the filter it's self, did not say box.
I’d guess not much more than four to five ounces or so. I did, however, do the same thing last weekend. I’ll do it again over the next few weekends......and eventually get it halfway changed I suppose.

Pop a lower line off, that should yield much more fluid. Kinda like a Trans fluid exchange.
