2006 Jake Brake to turbo gasket?

My 06 5.9 has had a massive hissing exhaust leak at the turbo outlet flange when using the jake, I finally pulled the HE351CW turbo out this weekend for a rebuild and found there was no gasket at the turbo outlet flange, thus the leak, hiss, and soot. I've searched and found the gasket part numbers, but no gaskets available thru Mopar nationwide (according to my local dealer it is out of stock and discontinued), Cummins (no availability), or Jacobs equipment. Does anyone have a line on where I can find this gasket or something that might work?

I was able to purchase the upgraded 5159965AA V-band clamp for the turbo outlet, but I doubt that will stop the leak without a gasket.
I'm also wondering if the 6.7 turbo outlet gasket (Mopar 68071676AA, Mahle F32901) may fit in this joint and survive the brake back pressure without blowing out? I could also try cutting one from flat copper shim stock....

It should be the same setup that PacBrake uses for their direct mount exhaust brake. Have you tried calling them?

Well, never mind on PacBrake as they don’t use a gasket. Which explains why I couldn’t think of the gasket. Looking back my Jacobs didn’t use a gasket either and it sealed just fine. I’m not even sure what would hold it in place. The only gasket is between the turbo and exhaust manifold.

I’m going to guess your v-band was loose.

Does this part supercede/replace the 4920023 ? If so, I can open my search a bit. My local Cummins dealer says there is no 4920023 inventory systemwide.... This alt part number could save the day

I tried playng with the v band, rotating the elbow, overtightened the band etc but the leaks just moved around, never eased up.
The gasket is supposed to hang on the elbow orientation pins, but mine are long gone. It will be tricky but I can hold the gasket in there while I get the band in place.
I'll call S1 this am and see if they actually can put hands on that part. Thanks!

That gasket is for the 03/04 Dodge/Cummins, so it's likely a smaller outlet size...rats

I do believe the turbo outlet is the same since a 05 elbow will clamp up to a 03 turbo.

The pins need to go for installation of an EB, they are only for the factory elbow.

So I checked my 03 elbow against the 06 turbo outlet and the flanges are the same except for those pins - they're 180' apart on the 06, and 120' on the 03- so the 03 gasket should work. I did find the 06 gasket today in LA, thanks to @brucejohnson above

I had the same problem with the hissing on mine, biggest problem was to line up the EB to the Turbo as there is no help for this. Always when I tightened the clamp it went out of alignment and hissed.
What a stupid construction this is.

The 06 Cummins gasket arrived last Fri - it's nothing special, just a 4.5"OD/ 4" ID donut cut from graphite/metal core exhaust sheet material, with a crescent of self adhesive on one side to hold it on place during install. No obvious reason for it to cost $60 other than it's out of production.
I'm tempted to save $ and buy some Mr Gasket 5961 sheet material to cut my own donut gaskets before committing to the pricey Cummins item, as I expect I'll be disassembling the exhauist elbow or turbo again before I get the remaining engine oil leaks resolved.

I still think you don’t need it. I never had one in my 05 with 2 different exhaust brakes and I never had an exhaust leak.

Get a new clamp and clean the mating surfaces.

Thanks, I sure wish that worked for me!- I bought the upgraded clamp from Cummins and dressed up both mating flanges on the bench to ensure less than .001 gap between the turbo and brake flanges last week. Installed w/no gasket as a trial and still have the leak w/brake actuated - not surprising as even with the clamp torqued to 100in lbs, the brake can still rotate on on the turbo without that gasket in place.
But you're right, I've installed 3 brakes on my previous trucks (1 BD and 2 PacBrakes) and never had a leak, but IIRC those brakes all had a tapered lip that centers the elbow in the turbo and sucks tighter with the band clamping force.

I have never used a gasket but I do use grease on all mating surfaces so as you tighten the clamp the sealing surfaces can move easier and find there natural place, the grease burns off pretty quick and smokes some at first.
