Ok cold front is on. We will see how long it stays on . Wasn’t really that hard to put on but warm cover and warm garage sure helps. I wouldnt want to do it outside in the cold It has 4 squares two upper small one and two lower big ones I have the big ones open now will test it later grand kids are here so I’m watching them and cant leave right now .will test it out ASAP and let you know what I think

You'll like it, and leave it on till the engine fan tells you to take it off.
No matter which outside temperature it is, it all depends on road and load conditions.
I used it always for my winter journeys.

If you would have taken the advice a few weeks ago in your own thread you would have already known the results by now ;)

Well, in terms of alfaobd I have a 2016 2500 SLT with 203k on it, which is a base model. No music display on the evis so not sure on compatibility.

Before winter and the actuator code it went from a steady EB whistle at idle and high idle to the oscillations. I’m thinking this must be a tune issue at this point. I’d like to get it figured out, though it’s not a huge deal. I have seen others with the same unsolved issue. If I get this resolved I will be sure to post the culprit.

As for the warm up, I agree. It’s generally to get it to 130 to baby it straight onto what is now becoming a very crowded highway and to get the truck defrosted some if I don’t scrape it all.

ALFA works with every FCA vehicle since MY 2006, some even before that.
No matter what trim level you have. Who said that the Radio has any influence on the usability of Alfa?

You buy the Bluetooth dongle, plug it into the OBD Port below the steering wheel and open the ALFA App on a Android Mobile or Tablet. That's it. Et voila - full access to the vehicles electronics.

I was reading it on their website for the Tazer dongle in the description below. Thank you for the info though. I will go ahead and order place one on order then!

Tazer Dongle???? Never heard of that and don't find it here.

You want the MX dongle that is recommended, no need for the MX+ as long as you run it on Android.
And you buy the App through the Appstore of course.
Dongle through Amazon.

Can you still scan and read other non-FCA vehicles usling the MX vs. the MX+... MX+ is kinda pricey... Good news, I found a Galaxy A7 tablet at costco for about 125$ so think Im going to get that on order

EDIT [ I dont see a MX option on the OBDlink webpage, only LX or MX+]

Through the OBDLink app you can diagnose basic any vehicle, AlfaOBD just recommends it because their software works well with that certain dongle. They are not affiliated or associated in any way.
AlfaOBD is a software only, sold through the Playstore.

So, I got alfa obd set up. But really can’t do much with it in terms of troubleshooting. Great recommendation though. If I had a laramie it’d be amazing. For instance, I replaced the non turn signal side mirrors that were broken when I got the truck. Replaced them with puddle lamp turn signal lamps that haven’t worked. Tried to connect to the bcm for drl settings to activate them, but won’t connect. That’s just an example. I can’t seem to view sensor parameters in the engine settings. Maybe I need to spend more time with it. Le sigh. It definitely has a lot of settings for laramie and up models though and I can still use it for fuel pump/door lock troubleshooting etc. good recommendation overall. I think Efi live is the next move…

@Sensory ,Found the puddle lamp option for 2016 2500. If you made change and it didn't so up after allowing computer to change, you might no have the wiring for that. I'd ask or get service and wiring manual for your truck. I got them for mine and is great help with finding things and tracing issues. AlfaOBD has a lot of info available! I go through the menus while watching the tube. (showing my age) The live data recorder can be a great help with running problems. Just post up and we'll see if we can help.

Ok so after some digging through settings, I found that you have to go into change configuration at set the ambient and side mirror lights to yes. I ended up getting them working! I’m pretty happy with that. It wasn’t cold enough today for cold start. Maybe in the morning it will be and I can see engine settings. Thank you all who have helped thus far! Appreciated!
