Can anyone tell me what this wire/connector are for? Found it hanging down in the fenderwell of my 02 the other day :(. Passenger side.

My truck is an 02 and I can see the wires and wire connector that you are talking about. The two wires disappear under the passenger side battery tray on my truck. I cannot tell where they go from there. On both of our trucks it looks like one of the wires is white with a blue tracer.

I did look at the wiring diagram, but I could not find that connector or wire color, but I did rule out the horn, right turn / park light, AC compressor clutch, field wires to alternator, AC high pressure switch, AC low pressure switch, and fog lights.

Sorry I could not be of more help.

Not a wheel speed sensor either - just forgot to mention it.

I stand corrected. After further investigation with the wiring diagram it appears the wire colors match those of the right front wheel sensor. The diagram does not show the connector - that is why I missed it initially. Also, the pair on my truck are not twisted as shown in the diagram.

Thank you @mweiman.

That is the ABS sensor for the passenger front wheel. If the truck was ordered with rear ABS only there will be two wires like that unplugged, one for the right wheel and one for the left. No big deal to cut them out.

That wouldn't explain the two wire pigtail (cut off from the sensor) that he found in that connection.

I SWEAR I posted a diagram of the connector in question but it’s not there. Did the OP start two threads on this?

The ABS sensor is a two wire.

Check his pictures, he has not only the connector on the vehicle wiring harness (which would make sens like you say, different vehicle), he has also one feet of the wire that goes down to the wheel hub/sensor that is apparently cut off at the end.

PS, yes it is the ABS connector, but I think he has a 4 wheel ABS because of the cut leftover wire.
