My poor '03 hasn't seen much use since fuel prices went out of sight back in the spring. The old girl is definitely showing her age but is still fairly solid. Rear fenders have perf'd through and the paint (clearcoat) is bad in several spots but she still runs ok for 168k on the clock.
Now, it seems, every time I go to use it after sitting for a few days, the transmission takes a long time (several seconds) to engage. I know the 47 doesn't fill the TC while in park but this delay seems 2 or 3 times longer than I'm used to. It's much more pronounced in reverse but happens in drive as well.
Did a filter/fluid change about 12K ago. Fluid level is fine and color looks good with no burnt smell. Once she gets going everything seems fine. It's just that sluggish start. Dropping into neutral for 3 or 4 seconds seems to help.
Is this just the nature of the beast or is there something I need to look at?
