Hi everyone

I replaced my factory Cummins Jake Brake with a new pacbrake unit.
If someone wants the old hardware, main unit, vac. pump, vacuum. valve shoot me a message instantly as I will keep them till next monday, otherwise they go into the scrap metal bin.

All I ask for is shipping, that's on you.

I hate to throw stuff away that is working and was quite expensive.

Looking it up now; any input from any other reader will be appreciated. This is the one item I wish my truck had, and I'd like to get this one while it's available.

In the meantime, Ozy, I'll ask for some info on the unit. I know this model is no longer parts-supported, so is it in working order?

Steve

Yes it is, I changed to Pac because of the retarding Power and that Pac works even on high altitude where the vacuum activated Jake fails.

So, I still use the switch and the wiring harness for my pac, I only give away the hardware.

Wiring is pretty simple and straight forward though, it's just a switch, a relay and a fuse plus the two pins that go into the ECM.

I live at 4,300 ft above sea level, and often tow into the mountains here at 6,500 - 7,500 ft ASL, so wonder how well it would work for me towing a big toyhauler camper?

I live at 7000 and tow up and down the CO mountains and have the factory Jacobs EB and it works very well. My camper is about 9K.

Mine not, as soon as I was above 3000ft it started to degrade and above 6000ft it was totally gone, at 9000ft I couldn't even hear it anymore.

That puzzles me. I have a vacuum operated exhaust brake (although it is a PacBrake) and it it performs fine at above 11,000 feet - Monarch Pass, Fremont Pass, Eisenhower Tunnels (all in Colorado and all above 11,000 feet). There is a slight reduction in retarding power because of the lower air density, but the braking performance is still good.

Yep. Same here.

I ran the Jacobs EB on my 05, and then subsequently a PXRB.

The Jacobs did fade some with altitude, but nothing like Ozy experienced. I was able to see it in my backpressure gauge, as well as in feel. I had it above 9000 feet and it was probably better than 80% of sea level.

The PRXB was a totally different EB, much stronger at lower rpms due to building 60 psi faster but not as strong at upper rpms. The upper rpms was due to the fixed orifice of the Jacobs and aftermarket cam I ran building more than 60 psi, which was fine with my 103# valve springs.
