NV5600 Trans. gear oil

What is a good grade of synthetic transmission gear oil to use in a 2001 NV5600 6 spd. gear box?

I used Amsoil Syncromesh in my NV5600 and it worked great. Good hot and cold shifting.

Factory lube is the Pennzoil Synchromesh fluid but I have had best results with Torco RTF.

Tried several name brands - the OEM stuff ended up best in my transmission...

Several years ago Joe Donnelly tested manual trans lube in a NV4500, comparing OEM with Amsoil, Royal Purple, etc. The OEM fluid performed the best in terms of lower operating temps.

I ran Amsoil in my 2001 HO 6-speed once and it was fine, but it didn't seem any better than the factory fill.

Problem I experienced with other than OEM lubes, was shifting gears - hot or cold - other name brands may well be better lubricants - but the syncronizer clutch material in the NV5600 seems to be very sensitive as to smooth shifting under normal hot/cold operation - at least in my particular transmission.

I am currently running the Amsoil MTF, I think I got started on that via recommendation of Standard Transmission when they rebuilt my NV5600. Next change, I may try something different, seems pretty notchy, with about 150K miles on the rebuild, especially when warmed up. Schaffer's now has a lube for that garbox, fairly recent product for them and I have only Schaffer's every other place now, if that doesn't work out, then maybe back to factory fluid.

They have two weights, 162 is 75W-80 and 166 is 75W-90 otherwise looks the same and meets Chrysler MS9070 and Chrysler MS9224. Unfortantly ONLY in 38 pound (5 gallon) pails.

Glad to know about it. Micron Moly a worthy part of any of their offerings. (Quantity a bummer, agreed).
