Hello everyone, just joined here in hopes of finding a solution. I have a 2005 Ram 2500 cummins. I had some problems with the accelerator pedal ( response is way off and it feels like the truck is having a fuel cut ).. codes are: P2121 & P2128.. (other codes of wastegate solenoid and map sensor are present as the truck has compounds) I changed the whole pedal but now it got worse as I didn’t recalibrate it. Question is, how do I recalibrate (program) the new pedal and how to reset the ecm if I messed everything up? I tried everything. Removing the pcm fuse, disconnecting negatives and turning the key on for 30 minutes. Slowly pressing and releasing the pedal, 2 times brakes and 3 times pedals. And a combination of all of these, You name it.. I can’t take it to a shop either as literally nobody knows how to work on em in Kuwait. So it has to be me in my driveway. Any help?

Welcome to TDR!
Try unhooking both batteries and touch the + and - leads together after the batteries are disconnected to discharge the circuits. Leave unhooked for several hours to do a reset on the system. While batteries unhooked, unplug the pedal. When you hook power back up, plug in pedal and go through the calibration process. Hope that helps. You'll find plenty of resources for your truck and plenty of members that have been down that road before advise.

Thank you very much. Glad to be a member here, and thanks again for your response. Will definitely try that and hopefully it will work.. have a great day

update: I know for sure electricity got discharged, nothing changed though.. I think something with the calibration process is off. Although it’s clear: key on dont start, push slowly and release slowly. Turn key off then Start.. Am gonna try replugging the old pedal back and do the same thing over. Still with the P2121 & P2128

I guess you reprogrammed the ECM to work with the manual trans.

Still on the Auto and Still haven’t programmed the ECM. The swap is a future plan. Waiting for the transmission to ship from the shop. Problem could be related to the other codes that showed up. The MAP sensor and the IAT

Could be, why is there a problem with this two Sensors? No matter if you have compounds or not they need to work.

From what I've read some programmers have also lead to problems with the APS circuit.
And a bad Alternator that has stray AC voltage messes up the computers greatly.
Check for AC voltage.

Well, I got the truck a couple of months ago, so still trying to troubleshoot everything. The previous owner told me the truck has been sitting since 2011. The compound setup is from 2007 or something. Even the handheld programmer is a foot long pre 2010 model :D. MAP sensor went bad after it saw 50+ PSI. IAT sensor is missing from the truck so that explains the code. Buying new sensors as we speak. Guess the pedal won’t work until I fix everything else.

Yeah, I think you need to start from the line. Fixing one after another. What programmer did you get with it?

To me the story looks like it never functioned properly... I hate to see so molested trucks, from the factory they worked awesome until some people started to "improve" 'em.

Yeah Exactly, truck experienced a head lift when it saw 50+ PSI. Went on and rebuilt the whole thing with oe parts. why mess up a perfectly fine low mileage truck? My truck has just 70K on the clock believe it or not. It came with a ppe programmer, just bought an mm3 tuner for the new setup. Also removing the compounds for a factory style single turbo.

Return the programming to stock with the PPE, just out of curiosity to see if it changes some of your issues.

Just tried that. It says the vin of the truck doesn’t match what’s saved LOL. The whole thing is just a big mess. I’ll try and get in touch with the previous owner and see what that leads to.

So it even does not belong to that vehicle... Great, you can throw into trash then, worthless brick.

Yeah, only way to get this over with is to redo the whole truck again. Tear down all the crap and put new OE parts. Really appreciate you giving me all those suggestions though.

Ah, they basket truck project. Although you can't rebuild this one on the coffee table! I hope that the previous owner can provide some insight into what direction the project was going. You may need to have the software in the ECM replaced since you were given a programmer that doesn't match the truck. Pull any codes you can, then fix those before throwing anymore random parts at it. Good luck with the repairs. Sucks that you don't have a repair shop to lean on for help.
