Engine Stall After Acceleration

Need help Okay I bought a truck that does not run. 06 5.9 was told motor was changed out and it never started again. Ecu shows 05 manufacturers code and security light is blinking. Also obd2 port will not communicate. Any idea were to start. Can I reflash 05 ecm and have key programed. Is obd2 caused by computer. I'm in Houston anyone locally have the ability to do this at my house or is it dealer only. Thanks for any help or advice.
Any ideas how to get obd2 port to communicate it has power just will not connect.
Also no mileage or gears indication on the dash.
Thanks for any help

The ‘05 build date could just be when it was built, my dads ‘06 was built in ‘05. If it truly is a MY05 ECM there will likely be issues as the ‘06 was the first year of canbus communications for the Ram’s.

You need to trace the wiring and make sure it’s all hooked up, I can’t think of any reason the ECM would shut off the OBD2 connection since that’s the only way to talk to the ECM in a ‘06 truck.

Hello thanks for your input. From everything I can trace and see it's all plugged in all grounds I can find apear good except the strap by the starter and it's broken and looks to have been that way a while. I'm going to get ecm checked and reprogrammed tomorrow cause I gotta start somewhere. The obd2 Need's to work to make this easier lol.

With the blinking Security light it won't fire, no matter what you do.
It should go away with locking/unlocking cycle. If not you are in big trouble especially with the non communication of the truck through OBD port.
The ECM is only a small part of the whole system, the main component is the BCM that controls almost all of the important systems.

Well that does not work that way. The ECM is part of the system and needs to be matched to the system, otherwise your trucks computer network just ignores what that "unfriendly guy" is talking.
Also the security is part of the ECM, that's why you have that light on.
The ECM is looking for "his" key, but he can't talk to the truck too.
What a mess that is.

I think only a RAM Dealer can help you out of this mess, everything needs to be programmed in the proper way and you might need a new blank ECM for it to be done.

Look at the valve cover, 3 injector plugs or 2?

The ECM needs to have the correct VIN, which should be able to be changed with certain tuners… but that takes a working OBD2 port.

That's what i meant, he needs someone that can really figure all that stuff out step by step, hands on, and more then likely that will be a dealer's workshop. To much stuff messed up here with ECM, OBD port and security.

Thank you all for input every little bit helps. I dropped off the ecm to be reprogramed to my vin . Then I will get the key programed to the truck and pray something changed. I will post if this helps or not.
But any more suggestions are still welcome .

There is 3 plugs front, middle, rear what does this mean thanks.

That means it is a model year 2005 Engine and wiring harness (making other assumptions based on what you posted above).

This could be the issue and you may have to source a 2006 ECM and wiring harnes, but I am not positive. Big electrical changes between 05 and 06.

What's on the emissions label on the valve cover? There is the rating and the manufacturing year on. It can be any engine prior to 06 and after 02.

I'm not sure on the emissions deal but I did read a 05 manufacturer date. The guy I got it from said it came out of a 05 truck that he drove for 3 days before pulling it .

Any access to the old engine for the wiring harness and ECM?

Does 2 plugs mean 06 motor?
Cause I have 3 plugs and all of them are plugged in so I would think it's the right harness.
