I am at this time sitting at a stop light in Rockford Illinois. Truck was running fine, I Pulled up to a stop light and it died.
It's turning over fine and with full pedal it tries to fire. Fuel gauge shows 15 lbs. If I keep the pedal down I can get it to hit and run badly but it is blowing clouds of white smoke .
I take my foot off the pedal and it dies.
I show no check engine light. But will put a code reader on the truck when I get home.
The truck just came from the body shop from a pretty good hit in the right front.
I am waiting for a tow right now, 1 mile from my home.

So what does "just came from the body shop" mean? You are on your way home from the body shop? This could have a bearing on how to troubleshoot.

And, what damage was caused by the "pretty good hit in the right front?"

Yes, came home from the body shop yesterday. Right front collision repair. fender, grill, hood, front fascia, radiator, AC condenser. wasn't hit hard enough to mess with frame. The truck ran just fine yesterday. Nothing looks amiss as far as wiring. ECM plugs are attached. The ECM connectors are keyed, correct? Thanks. Gary

Have you checked the air filter and air box? They may have had it off and left a rag or something in it.

Nothing in the box itself. I will pull the supply at the inlet to the turbo tomorrow and make sure.
I will also go check all fuses.
Should I disconnect the batteries and pull then reinstall the three connectors at the ECM?

There is no flap on the inner wheel well or inner hose.
There is a boot that mates with the air box and the air is pulled from the inner fender
I pulled the hose from the air box to the turbo and it was unobstructed and turbo spins freely with no end play in the rotor.
The filter was pretty dirty, so I will replace it.

It's possible that one or both batteries are hooped from the impact. They should be separated and loaded tested.

They went dead very quickly during crank today. The truck sat in the body shop almost three months waiting on parts and it was cranked numerous times yesterday. The batteries are close to 4 years old so time to replace anyway.

I have been down with a really bad influenza.
I will get both batteries replaced today and continue with trying to diagnose the truck.
Thanks, Gary

The P1698 code says it to do with the PCM. Due to the accident, has a connector been undone and not reconnected securely? Another would to look for any pinched wires on harnesses. With an over boost code and PCM code, sounds like wiring. JMGuess

@garylmoore , I think I would continue to focus on how the accident could be contributing to your problem. Not just the accident, but did something happen or get overlooked during the repairs, such as a forgotten ground connection, or poor wiring connection somewhere in the vicinity, or just something that has been considered yet.

I know that many times over the years when a problem cropped up after I did some major repairs on my truck, it almost always was something that I did.

Focusing on the damaged side is my best guess also, but as many repairs as I have done to this truck, something new seems to pop up on a regular basis anyway. I am being a realist here and will not rule out another non body shop type failure.
The truck is the most beautiful, capable, money pit I have ever owned. .

The connectors are all secure that I have seen. The connector to the (PCM? ECM?) on the passenger side firewall are extremely tight, to the point that I am afraid I am going to break them during removal. It doesn't help that it is in the mid 20' f. and I am working outside.

Can you clue me in where the Cam and Crank Sensors are located? Would it throw a different code if one of these had become unplugged? I cleared the two codes above and they have stayed clear, but then, the truck has not started since those codes popped up. Thanks
