68rfe to g56 transmission wiring harness

Best is like beauty, in the eye of the beholder. ;)

One can spend $700-900 to get a one size fits all triple disk TC that will likely do what most want to handle big power and live with the down sides until you tweak the VB to work with it.

One can spend $900-1200 for a Goerend TC and match it to your usage scenario with flash stall, full brake stall, and single\triple disk options.

I have used a couple different TC's and configurations and so far Goerend tops my list of "best" in my opinion.

When you start it up cold and not having driven for a while do you put the trans in neutral and let idle for a bit? Stock transmission doesn't circulate fluid in park, it does in neutral. Try that and see if it changes the results.

You will likely pay about $1000-1200 for a stock TC R&R. If the pan shows no evidence of a lot of metal or clutch material and the fluid looks good you can likely replace the TC and be good for a long time. If you want to upgraded the TC to a better match for the engine then a Goerend 900/400 TC with a billet cover is good choice. That will cost you around a grand with R&R extra. What you will get for that investment is a much better TC that will actually put the power on the ground and enhance drivability.

It is always a choice to spend the $$ to upgrade and these trucks are not cheap. Depends on how you use it and depend on it.
How long would you suggest letting it sit in nutural before I try to take off ?? Its been quite cold hear in Tampa so I want to do this right the first time so I can report back with accurate information. Thank you

Should not take more than 30 seconds to get fluid flowing and drain back issues. If you let it idle in neutral for 1 minute everything should be fine when it goes into gear.

O.k. thank you, I should be able to check it out tomorrow and report back, I am curious myself. Thanks again for all the help

Update,
I finally got a chance to do the test that you suggested. I started it up, put it into nutural and set my phone for 1 minutes timer. After the minute I put it into drive, I still got the lunge and pull through when breaking as you speak of. So, what does that tell us ?? The torque converter is going bad as you mentioned ?? I also noticed that when I first started up the truck and shifted into neutral from park, it was kinda hard to shift, it wasn't smooth. Thought please and I appreciate them very much. Thank you so much

I'd do a proper diagnostic from a Pro, hands on. It can be the valve body as good or something else.
Just spend 1200$ plus work for a TC seems odd to me without knowing that UT is really the cause.

..but it sure sounds like it is the TC.

O.k thanks, I guess I will have to try to find a reliable transmission shop hear in New Port Richey Florida. Someone hear brought up a good point and I would like your thoughts. Since I drive from Detroit to Tampa (1200 miles) a couple times a year they mentioned I should consider using AAMCO because they are nation wide in case of an issue. Your thoughts please ??

Next question. Lets assume it is the torque converter that is bad. Since I have had pretty good luck with the original(160K Miles) should I just put in the stock/mopar replacement because I get 25% off parts being a Chrysler retiree ?? I am not cheap, but my reasoning is because my pulling the 5th wheel days across the country are done, maybe a couple small trips a couple hundred miles or so a year. Or, should I put in a better one per your guys suggestion ??
Thanks guys,

Well, disregard my 2nd question in post #29, I went to the Chrysler dealership today and the parts guys looked it up and said that Mopar stopped making the TC, I think he said stopped February of 22.

The parts guys gave me a number to Florida Torque Converters, when he looked it up by my VIN, he said that its shows that there is 2 transmissions for that vin number. How can I find out what trans I have ??
Sorry guys for all the questions hear, this is was out of my league. I feel like a small fish swimming with sharks. Thanks for all your help. Also, someone told me with a 161K I should just get a remanufactured trans with the torque converter and be done. Your thoughts please ?? If so, where would I go about getting the whole assy ?? Thank you,

With the 6.7 you'll have the 68RFE - or a manual transmission.

You can call Goerend for this but they'll probably tell you where to go as they are specialized in the 727 transmissions, not so much the newer ones.
I heard that Goerend works with RevMax for the newer transmissions.

I just looked it up what the guy at Florida Torque converter told me of his findings, according to him after running my VIN it showed either a AS68RC or the 68RFE,

Sorry about that. (fixed it)

Best of luck with your issue, hope you nail it down.
NO worries, with the help of all you guys hear, we will nail it down. I was able to locate the original window sticker, and as you all have said, the sticker says the 68RFE. So, now that we know that. What do you guys think about a remanufactured trans and be done? Thats if I can even find one. But before anything I will try to find a shop and as Ozymandias mentioned in post 28 to do a proper diagnostic from a pro. I really do appreciate everyone's suggestions, and again, this is way out of my league. Keep the suggestions coming. Thank you.

And this is why I wouldn’t be buying anything from them. If whatever he ran your VIN with didn’t tell him what transmission you have, he should’ve called a dealer and had them run it.

Goerend has TC's available for the 68RFE. Do what you want on the transmission, but if I found the TC is the problem at this time, I'd replace it and drive on.

According to their website, the closest installer to New Port Richey Goerend lists is Inline Performance, 680 E Southland Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513. (352) 568-7591
