Brake warning light

Water Pump Leak

I just got a 2005 auto (48re)

Found out the Overdrive button is different than My 2nd gen truck

2nd gen light says: "OD off" locks out Overdrive

3rd gen light says: Tow-Haul and doesnt lock out Overdrive. Owners manual says the button just modifies shift patterns

So is that correct the 2005 truck does not lock off(out) overdrive ?

,

Is it just the 2005 not the other 3rd gen autos '03, 04, 06, 07

Im in western US . There are alot of long, long steep mountain grades

In Tow-Haul mode, Will this 2005 lock up the torque converter in 3rd gear going up steep grades like my 2nd gen.

I down loaded a 2006 owners manual to compare to my 2005 owners manual on the transmission "Tow-haul" mode

2006 has Tow-Haul mode and you push the button twice and you get OD off also

I wonder if there is a 2006 oe factory conversion for the 2005

No there isn't, but I provided you the two solutions that are doable
One is a DiY hack and needs another switch.
The other one works with the factory switch same as in the 06.

The option of adding the switch that @Ozymandias posted about, sounds like the best solution to the issue. Some wire, soldering supplies, hot melt glue and heat shrink (for sealing the connections), switch and the time to do. Find a good place for a micro toggle switch and then you'd be good to go! Would be a good Saturday project.

I tried to call BD "tech" about that "product" I got some foreign (middle east accent) guy that didnt even know what their BD overdrive lockout is. Not good.

So far a simple switch bypass seems best. I'll can make my own kit, But I have a couple friend that own transmission shops I will consult first
