Just installed a new 1 piece driveshaft in my 02 this morning and I must say that after the 1st test drive, neither the dogs or I can believe the difference this upgrade has made!

Vibrations gone throughout the speed/rpm range. I had a pretty noticeable vibration/growl in the 40-50 MPH range and while the truck only has 53000 miles on it, and there was no real visible indication of it, I suspected the driveshaft u-joints and carrier bearing.

So I spent a lot of time debating whether or not to just replace the u-joints and carrier bearing, or do the 1 piece conversion.

I am so happy I decided to put the extra $ in to the 1 piece conversion!

Vibrations gone! This truck rides like it's new again and I couldn't be more pleased!

Shout out to Driveshaft Specialists of Texas out of San Antonio! Their website has a lot of good information on it with detailed instructions telling you exactly the measurements/info they need to build you a custom one piece for your second gen.

If you're on the fence, as I was, my 2 cents is to go all in on the 1 pc conversion. It's an easy project that I knocked out alone in the driveway in a couple of hours and I was really taking my time. If I had just been on a mission to knock it out, it would have probably taken me longer to unpackage the driveshaft from the box they ship in than it takes to do the removal of old and install of new driveshaft.

Do it.

You won't regret it!

I did the aluminum one piece conversion using the Chevy drive shaft. It was way cheaper than rebuilding the 2 piece and has been trouble free. It was a direct bolt up.

I have a ccsb 94(97), with a one piece shaft. Is this stock or did the previous owner do it?

I’ve messed a friends 3 piece design on his ford, it’s a pita.

My 98 always had a growl on take off I first shimmed the carrier bearing down and that helped but I finally had the drive shaft re balanced and no more growl on take off or anywhere else in the speed range

I assume you had this powder coated before installing :)

Good info, I just did all new u-joints and carrier bearing last year, now rethinking that decision, oh well next time it needs work!
