2016 cc 3500 LB 4x4 68rfe 54,000 miles. Bought max care when new 7 years 85,000 miles. Was recently contacted by Max care to see if I cared to extend coverage. Spoke with a max care agent ( Michelle) & ask is def system and emissions systems, such as particulate filters, sensors and other related components were covered. She stated NO they are not covered. That got me to thinking my max care I had purchased 7 years prior also would not have covered these items? Was quoted $80-160 a month 3/36.

Yes. he's had the best deal on three of the four extended warranties I have purchased for my two trucks. The one he wasn't the highest was because the other had an extra discount going.

She is correct, DEF parts, SCR and DPF are not covered, at least that is what my contract shows.

I should clarify, when I said my extended warranty was about to run out so I shopped for another one, I was referring to my 2016 Ecodiesel, not my 2020 HO. I did not get the MaxCare I got the next lower Added Care Plus. It does not cover any part/piece of the emissions system. AC+ was a much lower cost and I was only looking for big items coverage (not to say the emission system items are of little cost). Mt great SErvice Manager suggested the Added Care, I went with the Plus as it was only a bit more money.

My 2020 HO Ext Warranty says:
ENGINE EMISSIONS: Air Pump; Air Supply Hose; Leak Detection Pump; Evaporative System Detector/Monitor; Vapor Canister; Air Injection Valve; EGR Valve; EGR Cooler; Aspirator Tube; Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor; EGR Tube; Purge Solenoid; Knock Sensor; Oxygen Sensor; Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) System.
NOTE: CATALYTIC CONVERTOR AND PARTICULATE FILTER ARE NOT COVERED.

Check with Granger Motors in Des Monies, IA for the extension too. They have been doing a $50 over their cost thing on them for a while now.

Yes they do but Granger will not sell you one if you've passed 36,000 miles

Although I posted my contract on here as an example long ago, and it reads like @John Jensen above, you have to read the exact contract they are selling you. Because it could exclude other items. Looks like they are just renewing your contract and yeah things like the DPF could be an expensive hole in coverage. Other things covered can also be expensive. Regardless trust, but, verify.

When I asked about emissions on my warranty (not Maxcare), it is the same coverage as the Maxcare, does not include the actual converters (SCR/DOC/DPF) themselves. But it does cover the DEF injectors, wiring, DEF tank/heater, etc. When I asked if any warranty program covers that, and they said no. When I called for confirmation on what I bought before signing the dotted line, I asked this exact question. Basically no one in the industry sells catalytic converter warranties both gas and diesel. However the way they put it: We may cover the issue that caused the converter to fail.

But as you read it, it's a VERY wide open clause.

So for instance I drove my truck around with a failed DEF injector at say 92000 miles and I drove it to 96000 miles and it hosed the SCR to get it to that point of failure, they could say that it was negligence on my part for not getting it taken care of in a timely fashion. Then cover the failed DEF injector, but deny me on a SCR.

That's where the emissions warranty covers those components for the specified time frame. It's like a wiper failed and caused damage to the windshield. There is no glass warranty beyond 1 yr 12K. Wiper fails at 24K and scratched the glass. Glass covered. A caliper has failed and caused the brake pads to crack. Pads are a wear item and not covered. Caliper cause failure and pads will be covered for the side in question and you could purchase the other side at half price. Be though this on my 1500 and a Caravan we had back in the day. Both had the wiper and windshield and the 1500 had the caliper failure. Was going to do the brakes on the 1500 and they put pads on and took my set back without even charging labor to install on the opposite side. YMMV.
