Shame because I am planning on attending this next month. Always liked seeing the RAM trucks, Jeeps, etc. :(

Stellantis NV will not participate in the Chicago Auto Show next month, the automaker confirmed on Wednesday, as it says it's looking to prioritize marketing spending.

Citing efforts for "preserving business fundamentals" amid a "challenging U.S. automotive market," Stellantis says it will evaluate participation in auto shows on a "case-by-case basis" to be "as efficient as possible in our media spend," according to a statement sent by spokesperson Rick Deneau. The company says it still will prioritize opportunities for consumers to experience its vehicles in person.

As a result of the United Auto Workers' strike against the automaker last fall, Stellantis canceled plans to appear at November's Los Angeles Auto Show and Specialty Equipment Market Association in Las Vegas, as well as next week's CES consumer electronics show in Las Vegas.

In 2023 in Chicago, Stellantis revealed the Rubicon 20th Anniversary editions of the 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe and Wrangler 392. This year's show runs Feb. 8-19.

The time of the big autoshows has passed, in Europe all of the shows are struggling or have already disappeared like the most loved Geneva Auto Salon. What's left from the German IAA is a joke with all the big players missing.

Game over.

The internet has changed the way things are researched. Why transport a bunch of vehicles to a location, staff it and only have a limited amount of the market come out to see them. Then if the weather is bad, hits the bottom line even more. Easier to post videos and info on the internet and help drive people to local dealerships to put hands on. A dollar is harder to come by nowadays!

I used to like the auto shows because I could connect with other like minded folks and employees worked for the auto companies. Even though most of them were low on the totem poll, but it was still very cool to shake hands with one of the big three employees for example.

There were quite a few times Cummins employees were there, and I got to talk to them too.

It wasn't so much about the neat vehicles, it was nice to see folks giving realistic input on things, and sometimes they made it to back to the drawing board.

If I wanted to see vehicles, I got plenty of car dealers around me to keep me occupied for weeks (ask me how I know... was in that predicament this time last year to buy my diesel truck!)...

It is so easy to hide behind a computer screen all day and ignore people or not get the full picture. I see that all day with emails at my job where things and projects get misconstrued, versus just meeting face to face.

Yes, it may hurt their bottom line for a short time, but you take a hit to make an earning. It's all how a business works.

The San Diego show only had VW's for the German offering. Ram did have a few trucks. No Jeep show with a simulated offroad exhibit, The EV's were garnering some attention especially The KIA Iconic with the $50G battery drew some attention. The big trucks didn't attract all that much attention like they did prior to Xi's pandemic.

Tell me about it with the trucks.

I remember when the 6.7l Cummins came out, they had a cut away of that engine on display for two years. Cummins was/is still proud of that engine.

Wish I could relive those days. Those auto shows were awesome. Met a lot of good folks and saw a lot of very cool things.

I do see a shift from people buying big trucks again, back to smaller vehicles. Problem is, when that happens the truck market suffers, and us folks who want a customize truck, will be forced into limited options like back in the day.

Speaking of which, over on another forum, I brought up the fact that I want a 50 gallon diesel tank in my next truck. I just hope they continue to offer it in 2026/27 model year.

I haven't been to the Chicago Auto Show since the mid 90's, like OZY above I can't stand the crowds. If I need to find out about anything I can review the SAE Auto magazines and Autoworld.
And I won't go downtown to Chicago any more haven't been to downtown Chicago since 2016.

It was fun for some time, I stopped going to Auto shows when the audience grew so big that it was a push and shove all day. Can't stand that mentally.

The scamdemic put a damper on it. It's actually not bad to go to them now. I'll still go to the Chicago show... you never know, Stellantis might decide to have a booth, but no vehicles. Personally, I'd rather have a booth, with no vehicles. Like I said, if I want to see their line up of vehicles, I can visit any dealer lot.

Chicago ain't no worse than downtown Rochester, NY and Buffalo, NY, including some sketchy boroughs of NYC. lol

One place I would not take my EcoD would be to the Iron Triangle.... those folks would strip my vehicle down the frame in the first 300 feet of entering it. It puts the "riding on blocks" to a whole new level. LOL
