I never had a complaint about the rear camera display in my 2010 and 2018 Rams. I do with my new 2024. The display is just dim. It is acceptable on a clear bright day but in overcast conditions, shadows and at night I have to almost put my nose against the screen to see what's back there. Have any of you TDR readers had a similar experience? Are there any available brightness adustments for the camera, or fixes? Thanks!

P.S. Of course the dealer says the display is normal.

Do you have it on camera, or mirror? Flip the lever underneath to change. If on camera, there should be a little camera icon in the upper left corner. There is buttons to adjust the brightness and height of the image.

Hoefler, thanks for your reply. I cannot find any of the items you mention (lever, camera icon, and brightness and height adjustment buttons.) And I can't find any reference to them in the online manual for the 2024. For starters, could you tell me where the "lever underneath" is? Underneath what? Again, thanks!!

Like the old days, you flip the lever in the middle to dull the headlights behind you. It is on the bottom in the center, then there is buttons to the right of it to set the brightness. Ill get some pics of mine and post later

Oh, my camera display is in the center console screen ("center stack" as MOPAR calls it), not the mirror. There are no levers or buttons on my mirror. Thanks!

There have been of complaints of too bright of a rear camera view on the older gen 4.5 trucks. I wonder if Ram reacted to that a bit too much.

You’re referring to the DRVM, but the OP is talking about the backup camera on the center stack.

Yes, my issue is with the camera display on the center stack.
Years ago I had a transmission problem that the dealer wouldn't take care of to my satisfaction. So I called the Customer Service 800 number for Chrysler, Fiat, etc. and I actually talked to a person and got some satisfaction. I think I will try that again!

Go compare your screen to other new trucks on the lot.

The screen in the center stack is quiite bright on all other applications, e.g. Souces, Navigation, Comfort, etc.

But while I'm complaining I'll also mention that the "Distance to Empty" numbers in the instrument cluster above the fuel gage are hard to read and sometimes impossible to read because of their size and poor contrast. Other than that, this truck is great!

Have you tired moving DTE to a different position to see if it’s the screen or font utilized?

Nope, didn't think about that. I'll try to figure out how to do that! I can also check that when I go to the dealer and check out the rear camera on other new trucks, hopefully today! Thanks!

There is a setting configuration menu on the EVIC where you can change the gauges around to what you want. You can get rid of some of ones that are useless like oil temp and oil pressure as well.

There is no EVIC per se on this truck. But, in reading the manual (420 pages!) I should be able to access a "sub-menu" item that will also give me DTE, maybe in a more readable format. There are also several display options for the "Premium Instrument Cluster" that may change the DTE display. Another chore for my Saturday!

That’s still called an EVIC.

DTE (or Range) problem solved!! I figured out (finally)! how to do a display "set up" and was able to put Range in Upper Left, Upper Middle, or Upper Right of the display. See photo and notice the Range data on the lower right which is what my original complaint was about. Thanks to all who helped me get to this solution!!

I have a 5PM appt today with my RAM salesman to look at the back up camera display on other new RAMs on the dealer's lot!

I recommend swapping out that oil gauge for something that’s actual data, like trans temp, boost, etc.

How do you like the full digital cluster, other than the hard to read DTE?
