2018 Ram 2500 - dreaded HCU failure

Just disconnect the batterys like Sag2 said, all good for months to come. It will start just fine, the self discharge of the batterys will be minimal.

That’s certainly an option. But disconnecting batteries for that doesn’t that cause the emissions monitors to have to clear ? In my case anytime I’ve had a CEL where some of mine will clear in about 500 miles , and there has been a time where two of those not ready’s took nearly 1500 miles to clear . I got caught once with two not ready’s, and did not pass emissions . I think if disconnecting batteries create those monitors to have to reset , I would think beware they have cleared to pass emissions.

That's a good point!

A few ago, I had that problem when I welded on a new section of pipe to my exhaust on my previous vehicle. Didn't occur to me that I'd need to drive it around for it to go through it's checks. I remember it taking a few drive cycles to be "ready".

My truck just spent 5 weeks parked with a NOCO Genius 5 hooked up. The truck was unmonitored. There were no error codes on the NOCO and the batteries were at 12.8V when I went to unhook the charger. No overcharging and they were fully topped off.
