Hey Guys, a buddy of mine has a 2012 3500 C & C with 6.7 and Aisin transmission. about a month ago, the 2 of us deleted it. Did EGR and SCR and Catalyst removal. Truck has a bale loader and pellet feeder on it, so its heavy. Truck will be used on his ranch for feeding cows and moving hay bales out of field. We put an additional 50 HP tune in it because of the weight. About 2 weeks later, he says it has really lost power, stills runs and idles fine, just weak. No smoke of any color out tail pipe, and no codes. I haven't had a chance yet to check it out, just wondering if there is something to be looking for? I did some research the other night, on the EGR kit I used, the kit just had you unplug the Valve?? that is in the air inlet tube going to intake manifold. I see a lot of the other kits actually give you a replacement tube that has that taken out. Possibly an issue?? I would think there might be some black smoke if that was the case, tho.
Possible lack of fuel problem, what/where is best place to break fuel line to check pressure?
Thanks for any tips you can offer, Jim

If you’re talking about cracking a fuel line between the HP pump and the injectors, NEVER break one of those lines loose while it’s running. That fuel is approaching 30K psi which is dangerously high.

No, was thinking tank lift pump. but lets just drop whole thing.

Ozy’s correct. Our 6.7 buses don’t have a lift pump.

Why can we not help this man with his issue? I know nothing about deleting or what he’s done to his truck as I imagine most of you are in the same boat. We’re not trying to help him delete it or trying to help him do something illegal. If he hadn’t said anything about the deletes y’all would be running over each other trying to help. Just forget he said it and try to help him out.

If the three letter agencies weren’t out of control a lot of you would be deleting your trucks, too. This forum was created to help folks work on their trucks and to modify them. How many times have the phrases “bombed” and “I am my own warranty station” been posted here. Yeah, it’s different now, but it’s different because of “big brother”, not because fellows don’t want to modify their trucks.

Lighten up. Tell the man “I can’t help you with the deletes, but if it were my truck, I’d start by checking…..

Per the guidelines, Sec 2 Conduct, 2.7. Intentionally violate any applicable law or regulation;

Therefore until said "3" letter agencies are reformed or eliminated, we have to abide by these guidelines from TDR.
Prior to emissions being on diesel trucks, "Bombing" didn't violate these EPA laws and regulations.
Thank you for the consideration of others that use TDR for the valuable information that it provides. TDR may not take the stance that other sites have, but we have to be aware of the crack downs that have taken place.

Thanks, Ozzy and BigPapa, that is what I was wondering about. My '05 ran fine when I forgot to turn my FASS pump on one day, and I was surprised how well it ran.
In regards to the other "issue" here, I have read posts, on this site, where the person says" I have a truck, or bought a truck that has been deleted". Then they proceed to ask whatever it is they need. Now, I am not one for lying, I'd rather be truthful and deal with it. Thanks to those that have concerns and know the rules to a "T". Never hurts to be reminded once in a while.
A good friend of mine once told me that "we live in a time where the intelligent and honest people are being silenced, so that the stupid ones wont be offended".

How old are the fuel filters? Any change to the fuel supply that may plug the filters early?

Yes bombing did, any modification to the way an engine operates was/is a violation of emissions laws… even if the engine ran cleaner.

Modern deletes are getting more attention, but none of it was actually legal unless the mod was certified.

I’d start by removing and cleaning the MAP sensor on the intake horn. With EGR they get a heavy coating of soot and will rob power from these trucks without setting a CEL. It’s a basically free quick check with no downsides.

On edit, I reread your post and noted it’s a cab and chassis, the MAP sensor should be in the intake plenum not in the intake horn.

Thanks, I will look into the MAP sensor. I did stop out at the ranch a little bit ago, just to give it a visual. Started it up and it ran fine at idle, but I noticed when I stepped on accelerator pedal nothing happened. after 5 or six times of working pedal, it then would rev up. I didn't have my scan tool with, as I wasn't planning on going out, but I am wondering now if its possibly something in pedal assembly or communication from it. I did notice a little black smoke when I was blipping throttle, but there was a horse trailer hooked up, so I didn't take it out on road.

Since the EGR valve is still on there, make sure it isn't stuck open. If it is, the engine will definitely lose power. It should be seated closed. Could be sooted up preventing it from closing or actuator is possibly keeping it open. Just something else to check.

EGR is not there, but air control valve is, just unplugged. Was wondering if this could contribute to poor performance? Have not had it apart, so not sure of its operation characteristics.

Lordsman. after reading my intial post, I see why you thought valve was still there. Sorry. my bad. EGR valve is gone, but air control valve is still there, just unplugged.
