Well so far, I can’t express enough how happy I am with my new Ram. All of the bells and whistles have a very steep learning curve, but I’m feeling very comfortable with them now. The truck drives so well and the engine/ transmission combination is what Ram really needed. No turbo lag and tons of power pulling away from a stop, you really need to be very light on the throttle to avoid wheel spin. I have driven multiple new Rams in the last few years but just never pulled the trigger.
I wanted to wait a few weeks to make sure, but I now believe the one issue I had with my new truck is repaired. Starting out from day one I had the cruse control shut off on me several times for no apparent reason. After about 180 miles I was just driving and got a chime and warning that the ABS system had been disabled, and in rapid succession several more warnings but not necessarily in this order, VSC Disabled, 4WD Disabled, Emergency Braking Disabled, Parking Sensors Disabled and maybe a few more. There were several warning lights on the dash illuminated including the check engine light. I pulled over and shut it off and then restarted it, all of the warnings went off except the check Engine light. It went off after around the 6th restart. Then several days went by with no problems, I was able to pull a code with my old scanner, U1412 implausible vehicle speed. I inspected the wheel speed sensors and wiring for damage, everything looked ok. Over the next 200 miles it happened several more times but sometimes it would skip several days and then trip several times in just a short trip.
My dealer set me up with a 2025 Jeep Wrangler Sahara to use and I took my truck into them. It was done the next afternoon but it was later in the day so I picked it up the following morning. They updated the program in the BCM the part # for the re-flash indicates it was two revisions newer. The MSO on my truck shows 3-5-2025, so I assume it was built close to that date. He also said that the DEF control module "DCU" had a re-flash also, one revision newer. The dealer couldn't tell me what the DEF re-flash was supposed to do that was different. It hasn’t used any DEF in almost 700 miles that I can measure on the gauge. To date none of the issues have reappeared in the last 300 miles.
I’m going to give it the first oil change next week as I have always changed the oil on a new engine in the first 500 to 1000 miles. Geno’s shipped out the filters I ordered on Friday. I hope this information helps someone else or answers some questions.
